SOTC-December

Hi all, today I am going to post my card for the monthly sisterhood swap I am in...I love this creative group of ladies and have had so much fun with them..Donna is the hostess this month and she chose Color Splash as a theme or using your favorite color combo. Color splash is using the same color in different hues. Although, I looked it up on line and found a couple different variations and techniques...(and actually tried one but failed miserably..) I chose to use my favorite color combo...anyone who knows me, knows I love glitter, and the black and white combo....so guess which color combo I chose...heehee...I know, I know...easy question...

I decided to ink up my grunged flower from The Rummage Bin at Cornish Heritage Farms and use that as my focal point. I used cool gray copics to fill in and shadow the flower and yellow and yellow-red copics for the center. I also added a few dabs of black stickles in the center of the flower to add a little texture and of course shine. My card base is SU basic black with the retired SU polka dot background embossed on it. I used a MS punch for the bottom of the card and tied a satin ribbon around the card, I placed a yellow rhinestone in the middle of the knot to finish off the card. It looks better in real life but I am happy with how it turned out....

Thanks for stopping by....
Hugs,
Carol

Mystery Image Card

Hi all, and late Merry Christmas to each and every one of you.  It has been a busy month and as per usual I'm slow on the draw...(yikes slow seems to be my normal speed lately). Today I have a card to show you that I made for the mystery swap I am in with a wonderful group of ladies....It started a couple of months ago when Jeanette sent a whole group of interested swappers a "mystery Image" we all got the same image and were to create 4 cards. It was so much fun seeing what everyone else made with the image, what a variety of wonderful cards. April then sent us this TGF Anya image along with the designer tape you see behind my TGF Anya image. (The narrow strip of black is the background for the fun tape, the tape I might add, was the most challenging thing for me on this card...yikes, I wasn't sure how to use it).

When I looked at the tape I thought it had an olive hue to it and since I'm a fan of olive I went searching for some paper to compliment the tape...(it appears I was a little off). I colored my sweet Anya with my copic markers and cut her out....(the white behind her has been embossed with my cuttlebug and a dotted embossing folder although this is hard to see in the picture). I added little buttons in the corner and used my favorite (black) to accent the olive and to help my image stand out. The layers Anya is standing on is mounted with mounting tape and Anya is mounted with SU dimentionals. The card stock is Old Olive from SU and the dsp is retired SU.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my mystery card.

          Have a wonderful New Year....

(I hope to be a little more proficient with my posting in the upcoming year...)

Dueling Darlings Kit #5

Hi welcome from cold snowy MN...I know I probably shouldn't complain about the snow and cold since I do chose to live here but as I get older I seriously wish I could winter in a warmer place...(maybe one of these years), but since I'm still here and it's still cold, I can't think of a better thing to do than stay inside and craft...woohoo....This month Laura Jean sent us our card kits...the theme being "My Favorite Things". Laura Jean sent many wonderful things and I tried and almost accomplished using all of them...I have some Basic Grey dsp, one sentiment, a couple snowman images and one snowflake left over...(pretty good for me...lol).

This month I chose to do a tent topper card. I colored the cute little Inky Antics snowman with my copic markers, then spread crystal effects all over the little ice tube he is sliding on, I lightly sprinkled glitter over the crystal effects, I also used the crystal effects on the had brim and pom pom and sprinkled white flower soft on those. While he was off in a corner drying I cut cherry cobbler for the base of my card and pieces of DSP from the kit. I tied the white ribbon from the kit around the front of the card and attached the rhinestones...I then cut the ovals from cherry cobbler, wild wasabi and whisper white paper and layered them. I cut out my little snowman and mounted him on the ovals then on the front of the card. On the inside of the card, I used the large felt snowflake LJ sent along and punched the sentiment out with the scallop circle punch mounting it in the center of the snowflake...I like how that turned out...

LJ also sent us a cute little box from OTC. I used some of my left over dsp to cover each of the sides of the box and also the heart on the top. I took some of the ribbon from the kit and made little rosettes, centered the buttons on the rosettes and stuck one on each side of the box....what a fun little bonus project to work on...

Our special assignment this month is to share with you some of our favorite things....One on my most special "favorite things" that comes only during christmas. Growing up the oldest of 6 children left very little "quiet/alone" time. As I grew older I would sneak downstairs after everyone was asleep put Christmas music on the stereo and sit in the darkened room softly lit by the Christmas tree lights and savor the soft Christmas tree playing in the background. To this day I still enjoy the Christmas music playing and the Christmas tree lights but now I enjoy it whenever I am home...I find it so relaxing during this busy time...so much so I truly get sad when we have to take down the tree and put away the music until next year...I have many other favorite things...like my precious little granddaughter (my best friend...lol), my hubby and my girls, my awesome friend,s stamping and card making, and my very special online crafting friends whom I absolutely cherish....but I never ever tire of the Christmas lights and music...

Thank you so much for stopping by...
