Mo's Challenge #71

Well here I am again this week. I am trying to complete Mo's Challenges and hone up on my copic coloring. This weeks challenge is Spring colors with hand made flower embellishments...I chose Nelly with roses for my little spring girl...she is just adorable and was so much fun to color. I love her little chair and the whole bouquet of roses she is holding in her little hands...I had some daisy dsp and matching vellum I had purchased several years ago...I used it for another card and had some left over in my stash and quite honestly I think yellow and white are very springy..I also was a very lucky recipient of some beautiful hand crocheted flowers. My friend Michelle (GP) had sent me some awhile ago and they were perfect for this card. (Thank you Michelle ♥). I have been hoarding them lol but just had to use them for this card.

I swear I need a magnifying glass though when I color...it all looks fairly good until I take a picture and then I see a little here and there that went out of the lines...sheesh...I did have fun coloring Nelly though and hope you enjoy her as much as I do...

Thanks for stopping by.
Until next time.
Hugs,
Carol

Calendar Girls February 2011

Hear ye, hear ye! By royal proclamation …… I Welcome you all to Ms. February’s Ball!
Each of you beautiful belles – our lovely Calendar Girls - are cordially invited to the Calendar Girls Ball! It’s a month of love, admiration, and red hearts, my lovelies!
What will you wear to this ball? More like what will your CARD wear?! This month – fabulous Calendar Girls,- show us your STYLE! Your card should reflect a representation of what your dream dress would be and the moment each of you beauties walks into the ballroom, we’ll be dazzled by what you (your card!) has on!

1. Challenge 1 -- What’s your style?! Will your card be sleek, sexy and black?
Will it be a pink and frilly with flowers? Lavender and lace?
Will it have Bows? Buttons all down the back? {etc!} You may use any stamped image you like - it should not be a dress stamp, lol – your card should speak for itself with it’s colors and style!

2. Challenge 2 -- Show us your true colors at this ball! Add your favorite color somewhere to your card, even if it’s the smallest of a brad or a little flower – it might not match your “dress personality” but that’s the whole challenge! In the words of Tim Gunn, “Make it work!”

3. Challenge 3 -- Shape up for this ball!! Well, this will be one of your EASIEST shape ups evah! Tee hee! on the same card, you must use a SHAPE somewhere on your card! Make your regular card but add a Big-shotted, Cuttlebugged, hand cut out shape to your card.  Shape up, show your true color and your style!!

So here I am...finally I have a dress...lol..When I first read Kelly's challenge I knew exactly what I was going to do.....yay me..Did I do it? Kinda...lol. I actually was going to do a heart easel card and still use the black but the only die cut I had was the scallop heart (which would indicate ruffles and I didn't want ruffles.) So in checking my other nestability dies I found the labels 8 (which I had already cut out as an easel card in kraft for another challenge and had discarded...lucky me...it was already started). I then took some black paper (given to me by my sweet friend Linda) that had a fabric texture to it..( I took a picture with the flash and you can see the texture but the rest of the card didn't look very good so re-took it but here is how the paper looks).

I then took the labels 8 and punched a half piece out of the paper and used that for the inside of my easel card/dress..Once I had all the pieces cut out I used an oval punch to punch the sides of the dress to reveal cute little arms...(humor me here...lol). I took rhinestones and made a necklace using an oval rhinestone as a drop jewel (my favorite shape requirement #3).

Requirement #2 was to add your favorite color..somewhere on the dress. My favorite color has always been blue, but I love black and white as much. I used blue rhinestones to attempt to give my dress/card a dropped waist with a black and white flower on the hip...(geegle geegle). Now if you know me I am extremely short so I would never be able to pull a dress like this off. So in keeping with requirement #1. I am showing you my favorite style/dream dress. In a perfect world I would have longer legs and be thin and be able to wear a strapless dropped waist elegant black ball gown. So Thank you Kelly for the wonderful challenge, I am able to wear my dream gown to your Royal ball and I look good in it...ROTFLMAO....

Thanks for stopping by, please drop by the other calendar girls blogs and see what they are wearing...

Kelly, Jeanette, April, Barb, Debbie, Michelle, Paola, Tami and Terry

Until next time...
Hugs,
Carol

P.S. I'm feeling a little guilty here as I didn't use a stamp on this (yet)...but it wasn't in the requirements so hopefully I didn't mess it up...I really did have fun though.

Hi all, today I made a luminaria using the Love vase digital  from C&Co. When I saw this little vase I just had to have it and right away I envisioned a soft glowing light inside the luminaria as a backdrop for this cute little image. I used some vanilla embossed paper I found at a garage sale for the base and confetti specked vellum to cover the little windows created with my large scallop nestie. I took a piece of vanilla paper and used a border punch along the edge and inserted it inside the top portion of the luminaria. I then took a piece of very curly/sparkly ribbon and wrapped around the top leaving a little extra to curl down the sides and topped the knot of the ribbon with a deep red rhinestone...I colored my Love Vase with copic markers and touched it up with a little glitter here and there...each side of the luminaria has it's own little vase. I had fun with this and I hope you enjoy my little project for today..

Be sure and leave a comment on each of today’s fabulous posts, to be eligible for the prizes that are up for grabs! You'll have until Monday, February 28, 12pm EST to comment. Winners will be announced on March 1, during their Release Day Showcase.

SOTC Feb Challenge

Hi all, can you believe I'm here two days in a row...I know.....that is quite a feat for me, lol. Our February hostess for the Travelin' Card swap is Barb, and she came up with an awesome challenge for us. Here it is in her own words...

"LOVE February is the month of Love and Valentine's Day, so lets make a card describing something that you love. It could be flowers, chocolate, coffee, tea, stamping, a sport, an animal, your pet, the beach, the mountains, housework-"

Now I can tell you I really, really, really DON'T love HOUSEWORK, I do however love many other things. The obvious would be my faith, my family and my friends just to name a few, so I went with the route I believe Barb was steering us to.

I think you might understand just by looking at the card but I will tell you....I love shoes....I have ever since I can remember. Dress up shoes, tennis shoes, flip flops...you get the picture. When I got my first job I purchased shoes and got great sales on them as my feet are small and those sizes were always on sale way back then. You will also see if you look closely one of my other loves...."glitter"...I just have a hard time not using glitter on my cards. I think it adds the perfect little somethin, somethin to finish off the card...oh well...My image is a Bugaboo digi colored in copics and cut out with nestablilitie ovals. I have used a cuttlebug embossing folder on the pink background.

Inside I have added a rubbernecker sentiment, that pretty much sums the whole situation up...giggle, giggle. me to a "T". I have added half pearls to the shoes and the front of the card to finish it off. I do hope you like my card. (It certainly wasn't hard for me to pin point what I loved it was much harder to get it down on paper..lol).
Thanks for stopping by.
 Until next time,

Hugs,
Carol

Mo's Challenge #70

Hi all, I'm here with my card for Mo's Challenge #70. This week the challenge was to use the sketch that was provided. I have been itching to color up these two adorable friends and thought this would be a perfect chance. With them wearing winter clothes I decided to emboss my white panels with snowflakes and keep the base of the card white as well....using silver mirror paper as the accent...

As you can see I used my favorite embellishment (glitter) on the hats and scarfs and footprints. I used the SU snowflake border die from the last mini to cut the snowflakes out of glitter paper and then added rhinestones for extra shine to the centers. I used the MS snowflake border punch on the bottom of the image...I do like how this turned out...

Thanks for stopping by...
Until next time...

Mystery Image Swap

Hi all....welcome back and it is good to see you...Here is my card for the mystery image swap. The hostess this round was the lovely, talented Gael. She sent this image to all of us and we were to make 4 cards and send them back to her to swap out... ( I love this little reader and her faithful kitty).

I was trying to capture the essence of our little lady sitting on her white and lavender bed resting on a lacy pillow. It didn't quite turn out how I had it pictured in my head but was as close as I could get. On the background of the card I have embossed the SU tea house background in clear embossing powder on SU concord crush paper to give the effect of wall paper. The bed spread is made with doily's as is her pillow. I have colored our little lady and her kitty with copic markers and used a MS border punch for the bottom of the bedspread and wove white satin ribbon trimmed in silver through the border. I do hope you can kind of get the concept from the explanation...

                        Thanks for stopping by.

Dueling Darlings #7

Well here we are again...in another friendly duel with our dueling sisters the Dazzlers..This month Jamie and April put together our kits. Jamie sent mine and I have to say it was full of fun little items. Jamie had it packaged by paper, embellishments, and die cuts...each in their own little bag labeled and decorated on the top. (Now that is what I call organized...not something I claim to be..). I had a hard time deciding on what kind of card to make. I chose this layout from SCS challenges and added a little of this and a little of that. With the wonderful colors I thought basic black would be a perfect backdrop.

I used a lot of different sparkle and shimmer products on the card. I used my black and red stickles for the mama, the inner tubes and the balloons..I used lumiere on the babies and on the water. I highlighted the babies and water with copics and then went over them with my spica pens...can you tell I was going for glitz and shine....lol..go figure. I then decided since I was shining my image up I would use the beautiful shiny, silver rick rack under the image to give a sense of water/waves...and I used the very pretty silver heart accented by a black heart brad to top off the waves. In the corners I added the pearls to finish off the front. I did have a bit of a battle with my glue gun and unfortunately it won so the top of the card has a wrinkle that I couldn't seem to smooth out....sigh....(sometimes no matter how hard you try....it just doesn't work out...especially when you don't have another piece of identical paper to re-do it with...lol)

I just had to use my 3rd piece of dsp for the inside...(the other two were on the front)..I took both of the wonderful die cut hearts and layered them on the inside snuggled together, I then punched out the sentiment with my heart SU punch. I distressed the sides of the heart with cherry cobbler ink and set it on top of the other two hearts. I hope you like how I used the kit...and I still have more left over...

Thanks for stopping by and please take time to visit both the Divas and the Dazzlers listed on my sidebar..

                                                                Until next time....
                                                                     Hugs,

Mo's Challenge #69

Happy Valentines Day ♥♥♥

Seems like it has been forever since I last posted...and it has been quite a while...for me it seems like I do a couple in a row and then get behind once again...I need to be more consistent...I love doing Mo's challenges and this one was a Valentine-love card using non-traditional colors....I chose Justin's ice cream image to use for my card. I love the little dog peeking out and grabbing the drippings from the cone...and what little boy doesn't love his pup??

I used the pet stack  dsp  by DCWV mounted on black for the backdrop. I stamped  "I  ♥ my best friend" in versa mark on the olive SU main cardstock. I colored little Justin and his pup and ice cream cone with copic markers, printed my saying on the computer and put little black hearts in the upper corner filling them in with black stickles...(as you can see from my blog, I love glitter and the color black, I think the black is a nice rich accent for most colors..) I had fun working on this card. I hope you enjoyed it as well....I will be back tomorrow with my Dueling Darling Diva card for this month....until then...

                                                        Sending hugs your way....
