Dueling Darlings March 2012 "St Patricks Day"
Hi all, This month our wonderful DDD hostesses Barb, (for the Divas) and Michelle (for the Dazzlers) came up with the theme "St Patricks Day" for our kits...I received my amazing fun filled overflowing kit from Barb...these are the instructions:
For the March Duel, Michelle and I decided the theme to be “St. Patrick’s Day”!
First, about the kit: There is an image and a sentiment from Whipper Snapper--yes, you again could count on that. You do not need to use the sentiment unless you want to or use it in the inside of your card—I included it as an option. There is quite a package of embellishments—I wanted to give everyone lots of variety to use what you want.
Your Kit Contains:
Whipper Snapper Designs
4--Images—Irish Luck-stamped in Memento Black
4--Sentiment—Happy St. Patrick’s Day
it is stamped in Memento Black-2 & Cottage Ivy-1 and Stampin Up Garden Green-1
Patterned Paper:
Reminisce Lucky Me
--St. Patrick’s Day—clovers/swirls
--Lucky Stripe—stripes/clovers
--Micro clover—small clovers/stripes
Reminisce Shenanigans
--Shenanigans--Words and outline clovers
--Various Ribbons and Twine—I did not add any white ribbon, but feel free to use some if it is too much green on your card
--White Buttons
--Shamrock and Leprechaun shoe Brads
--Various pearls, rhinestones and foam stickers
And in addition to creating your card, we have a request of you. When you post your card, please tell us if you have a tradition relating to St. Patrick’s Day. Do you crave a type of Irish food? Do you prepare something special or go out to a certain place to eat that day. Do you have any special memories of that holiday from the past that you want to share?
If you have any questions, please contact me. Have Fun--Be Creative—Enjoy the Challenge!
As you can see from the list above, we had a lot to play with...I made a card from my kit but had plenty enough to make a couple more...
Unfortunately I had way more supplies than time this month...now back to the card...Isn't this the cutest image...I love him and had him colored up nearly as quickly as I got him...I finally decided to use the SCS sketch 310 for my card. I used basic black as the base color for my card and then went crazy with Barb's awesome dsp...I used the stripes for the second layer and the Irish sayings for one of the other layers...all mounted on black. My little stripe across the mid section of the card is the adorable shamrock ribbon Barb supplied us with...just stinkin' cute if you as me...I colored my little Irishman with copics and used gold pen for his buckles...I used the sparkly shamrocks on the top and a sparkly flower in the center of the shamrocks (didn't think I'd let this card go by without some glitter---thanks Barb...lol)..I used a pearl for the center of the flower my guy is holding and of course a tad bit of glitter to add that extra somethin' somethin'...
As many of you know I am really working hard on making my insides of my cards a little more interesting...(taking my inspiration from many of the Divas and Dazzlers)...I once again used two more dsp's provided by Barb and the sentiment wrapped with this awesome wire/twine material Barb sent...it was fun to work with and I think it did the trick...There was so much more I wanted to use, but thought in the best interests of this card, I should just make another card with those goodies...
As far as St Patricks day...we don't really celebrate it... I will be working but I must say...for the first time ever I purchased a corned beef brisket and did it in the crock pot last week...definitely going to do that again as it was awesome...I hope you all have an amazing St Paddy's Day...
Thanks so much for stopping by...please take time to visit the Diva and Dazzlers blogs...I am sure you won't be disappointed...
Until next time,
Hugs, ♥♥♥
