Our wonderful hostess this month was the talented and creative Terry...what a challenge she had for us...

April Challenge

What is a Barn Quilt? A barn quilt is an 8 foot by 8 foot replica of a quilt block made of plywood and hung on the side of old barns here in Wisconsin. There are hundreds throughout the state and I love seeing them up close and personal. Here are some examples (the first picture I pass every day):









My challenge to you is to use one of the following quilt blocks to create this months card:

This is an awesome challenge and it was a challenge indeed...I chose to do the last quilt block as after studying it a bit....I discovered I had made a couple baby quilts many years ago using the same pattern...funny how that goes...sheesh...didn't even recognize it. I must insert here though....I was learning from my friend how to quilt and made up my own way of doing it...and this seemed like the easiest at the time (wrong)...being a novice I didn't measure correctly and nothing lined up...but I was determined to make it work and kept plugging along until I completed the quilt...(note to self....do not cut out all the pieces until you know they are going to work together with your homemade measurements...doh)...oh well....it looked pretty good when I got it finished.

So here is my barn quilt card...does it surprise anyone that black is incorporated here...lol (I couldn't find an appropriate place to add glittah...heehee). I took the challenge to look like a quilt block so did not really add anything else to my card other than the zig-zag embossing and the ric-rac ribbon. I also layered the black and polka dot papers to give added dimension as this makes  the flocked argyle paper stand out more in real life. I did have to add a small pearl in the center and in the middle of each side of the card (hard to see with this pic). I hope this is what Terry had in mind...
