Calendar Girls February 2013//Crafters of Faith February 2013

Hi all....I have two posts for today so make sure you if you have time to check them both out. First off the Calendar Girls February hostess was our lovely, talented Kelly.

FEBRUARY 2013 CHALLENGE
Miss February: Kelly

*~* Share the LOVE! *~*

It’s February, the month of LOVE ♥ I’m thrilled to be your hostess this month and offer you a challenge of a different sort Rather than go for the traditional Valentine’s card, I wanted to ask that you each make a card – as a reflection of yourself – and share a little LOVE!

This month, please create a card (or project) that shows what YOU love … something that when we look upon your card, we will know exactly what that ONE thing is that you love so much!
(For example, maybe sporty LJ will have something on with the Badgers on her card (just sayin’!) or Darlene may have gorgeous feathered friends gracing the front of hers … you get the idea! )

*You may use any colors you would like but extra brownie points for using non - traditional colors!!
* Please include one thing only – I know it’s hard {However, if it's fruit, for example, you may include a basket of it rather than just one fruit}

YOUR BONUS CHALLENGE: As a extra bonus, but completely optional part of the challenge, I would LOVE for you to send your card to a place/organization that you LOVE. Share the LOVE this month by sending your card to someone in need – OWH, children’s charities, RMH .. the possibilities are endless. Know that somewhere out there, your generous mailing of your card could bring a smile to someone in need

Have fun creating and crafting and I so look forward to sharing the LOVE with you this month! ♥

*Blessings!*

My card for this challenge is white on white with a spark of silver...(the ribbon). I am hoping you can tell right away what my favorite thing is (at least my peeps on line will). I used a Mo Manning image Mummu and me...which I think is adorable..and it does remind me of my Little Miss (granddaughter). I don't know if white is considered a traditional color for Valentines day but I started out with brown and turquoise and it just didn't work so went to plan B.

Here is my card:.

The place I am going to send my card to is my Aunt as she has 6 daughters---tons of grand children and even more great grandchildren...at 78 she is still dancing and singing to all of them (as well as being an amazing  piano player to boot). She loves homemade cards and definitely uses them for all the birthdays, anniversaries and other special events that go on in this large family. That being said, growing up she was and still is my favorite aunt...I love her to pieces....

My second card is for the Crafters of Faith blog and our lovely hostess is the talented, super knowledgable
Tami....

Here is her challenge:.

February Challenge
Hostess: Tami
I have a crafting tool that I just had to have and have hardly used. Does that sound remotely familiar?! I think you all may have the same tool in your arsenal. I would like you to drag out your scoring tool. Scor-Pal mini, biggie, Martha mini, biggie or if you do not have one of those, I am sure that you may have a scoring blade on your paper cutter. SCORE!!! It would be fun to see how you all incorporate scoring onto your card. You know I am into 'use what'cha got', so if you do not have a scoring tool of any sort, please create without this element. Oh and I do not mean just a score to fold your cardbase in half! LOL

While it is a 'lovely' month February, let's create a card that is not Valentine's themed. That being said, it is the second part of this challenge. Let's not use Valentine theme, red, pink or white colors anywhere on our cards. That includes the paper you stamp your image on....*gasp*!

For our third element, how about we place both an image and a sentiment on the front of the card.

Well, that ought to keep us busy {now what am I going to do?! LOL} I am looking forward to seeing your projects. I get the best ideas from you girls.

I first have to say I love, love, love my scor-pal (I have several and use them all the time).  I am sure everyone may have used this technique, but I chose the faux tile technique. I scored my buttercream paper and then stamped the image...Once the image was on I stamped the whole piece with versa mark and then put clear embossing on the whole image. After melting the embossing powder I touched the edges of the flowers with an embossing pen and sprinkled a little glitter on the embossing fluid and re-heated the image...I bought nothing new to do this card and I believe I have followed the other parts of the challenge (no white-use what ya got, and both the image and sentiment are on the front)...I hope I hit them all....

Here is my card:

Thanks for stopping by, please stop by the other blogs and see the awesome creations I am sure they have ready for you...

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

Holy smokes, Carol! That tile with embossing powder is so amazing. I have never seen that. Let alone, tried it on my Martha Mini that gets no use! And here I scored a 1/8 piece of scrap card stock! LOL

I like how you featured the image on the first card. It is perfect for your Aunt!

Two great cards! I LOVE how you scored over the stamped image! The scored grid really matches the grid look of the background paper. Lovely!

Your aunt will adore this special card! What a delightful image and you have done it justice with the embossing and coloring. Love it!!

Your COF card is verrrrry nice! I love that tile technique and was thinking of using it too. However, I've never tried embossing with it - I really admire how your card turned out. The colors are so rich and deep. I will have to give this a try!
