DDD for March 2013

Here we are the 16th of March already and the Duel has been on for a day (I missed posting yesterday since I have been having much trouble with my computer). But I had my hubby check it out and got it at least to where I can post...??? Oh well I'm hoping with a little more work he can get it back to normal...Enough of that ...On to my challenge for this month. Our lovely hostess for the Divas was our newest member (YAY) Kadie, and the Darlings hostess was the amazing April. They chose to highlight St Patrick's day and blessings..and OH MY what a kit we got to play with. Needless to say I got so much I have left overs to make a few more cards and I made use of alot of the kit...

Here is my card:
I made a gate fold card using the Lilybee Design fat quarter for the front sides and the other side of the same paper for the background of the cute MFT  ala mode "Wishing you Luck' image. I colored the image with copics and used glitter on the shamrock, the cute girls headband and shoes. I placed the rhinestone embellishments in the corners of the black image background. I loved the little pansy strip from another of the dsp's so I placed that on the bottom of each side. On the inside of the card I took one of the little cut out cards and cut the March off the front of the card, turned the bottom of it around, placed the Celtic blessing on that side and taped the March on top from the front of the card. I think it worked out ok..

We were asked to post a recent RAK we have initiated or have been the recipient of...The most recent I was a recipient of. As some of you know I have worked part-time in a bridal shop selling dresses and accessories for over a year. I helped a young lady with her wedding dress and had such a good time with her and her mom. This young lady had donated one of her kidney's to a stranger (a lady who happened to be a religious leader), She had moved her wedding up so the recipient of  her kidney can preform the wedding. That was the first random RAK, anyway, I also helped her when she and her mom came in to pick out bridesmaid dresses for her girls....at that time the mom handed me an envelope (which she had planned to have one of the other consultants  deliver if I wasn't there). I was really busy that day and didn't get a chance to open the card until much later that evening....inside the thank you card was a picture of me and her beautiful daughter in the wedding dress she chose on the first visit along with a very generous VISA gift card...I was overwhelmed and surprised to say the very least. What a kind, kind, mother daughter pair they were. Later that month the mom came in to pick up a color swatch and I was able to thank her once again in person...(I did send a thank you note however I didn't have the mom's address and couldn't find in by googling). What an impact they had made separately and together in many peoples lives just doing what came natural to them....I am grateful I met these beautiful earth angels....

Thank you for stopping by, please stop by the other Dueling members and check out their creations, I am sure you won't be disappointed..

Until next time...

Hugs,
Carol

I love how this card came together! Great ideas on how you used the kit contents on the interior of the card.

Those girls know a good Glittah Sistah when they see one!

Oh Carol, your story just brought tears to my eyes! I have spent the past 2 weeks driving all over town, store to store, fitting to fitting with Prom dresses for dd18 - I cannot imagine the day she needs to find a wedding dress! I hope and pray that the consultant would be someone just like you :*) What a beautiful story and a very lucky RAK for you - well deserved!

Now your card - va va voom! What a beauty!! So sweet, from front to back - a perfect Carol card!

I'm *Blessed* to know you, my friend! <3 you!
This is so pretty - love the way the gatefold holds the image and what a great use of the kit items!
