It's a boy.....
Hi all, it has been a very busy last couple of weeks...whew...A week ago friday my niece had a baby boy (the first in the family of 3 girls...) they thought they were having another girl and SURPRISE....woohoo...it's a boy...lol. Well, she is the sister of the niece I am helping do wedding invites for so we had fun sharing, stamping and shopping last weekend with the little one in mind. I had been looking at the Sugar Nellie site and found out that they had some digital images..during the course of my "window" shopping...yikes, I spied this digital of a newborn baby. I passed it up several times but kept getting drawn right back to it...so.......anyway, I thought what a perfect card to color up for my niece and her new baby.
He looks so life like almost like you can pick him up directly from the card, the digital is incredible...I then tried 2 techniques I have never tried before...the first was to emboss a piece of wax paper then iron it on to a plain piece of card stock. Using a sponge and some bashful blue and marina blue ink I sponged over the plain piece of card stock that contained the waxed image..I wiped the extra color off with a napkin then taped my (cut out) little guy in the center. I was attempting to make him look like he was sleeping on a blanket but this part definitely needs to be fine tuned...then I attempted the ribbon frame. I did this a few times before getting to this point. I first tried it with white ribbon that had little blue feet all over it but it just didn't do anything for the card or the image. I then tried this marina blue taffeta ribbon from SU and I think it really enhanced the image...I then put half pearls in all four corners to finish off the frame...and......of course I just couldn't let this little one get by with out a little glitter.....lol...so I dabbed on some stickles to the little pompoms on his hat to give them a bit of texture and make them stand out a bit more...
I hope you like this card. I sure had fun with the new techniques and working on my coloring...
Thanks for stopping by.
Until next time......
Hugs,
Carol
