Hot mess = Success Jan 2021

It is once again time for the Hot Mess=Sucess challenge. I am honored to be a part of this group with an amazing group of friends. I'm  not the neatest crafter as far as my crafting area goes. I spend too much time looking for things so this challenge fit right into my wheel house. (Although to be honest I have crafted at other peoples homes and so appreciate a nice organized work area so this year my goal is to get my area organized and more efficient.) That being said this challenge is more geared to the mess you create when making your card.  I missed last month and am so sorry about that. I was in the middle of retirement paperwork, Christmas shopping, wrapping and a whole multitude of other chores and completely forgot the date.

This month however, I'm ahead on my card as I made it last saturday. I had seen a technique where you sponged (rubbed) ink of the background of the card. Next you took a stencil and sponged the same color over the stencil making the sponged area a little darker., Finally you take embossing paste and stencil and work another area of the card background with that to create your whole background. I attempted this with my card. I did ok with the embossing paste (I of course used a glitter clear paste) the normal stenciling didn't work as well but in the long run it was ok as the image I chose covered it up mostly. The image is stamped and embossed on water color paper and then colored with water base ink refills and then fussy cut it out.  I mounted the background I made on top of blue shiny paper and then the whole works went onto a white card base. I then cut thank you out of white shiny paper and mounted that on the flower image. I had fun with this card and trying a new challenge. I hope to try it again only with a bit better luck with the stenciling.

Here is my card:

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I hope you like my card. Please stop by the other mess challenge blogs. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

Carol, your card is beautiful! The process to make it sounds quite involved, but you definitely mastered it! I'm glad you got messy with us this month!

Very pretty card, Carol! Loving that background. My craft area is usually a mess too. Every year I manage to get it cleaned up once or twice but I never manage to keep it that way. LOL! Great challenge!
