Calendar Girls June 2012

Here we are again with our monthly calendar girl challenge...this month the lovely Michelle saved me by coming up with a theme. We were in the process of moving and I was way behind ....I am so grateful Michelle...I truly thank month I will pick the challenge with the switch...but in the meantime this is what Michelle challenged us with:

June Challenge...

For most of us, June is the month that starts summer...many events are ending, graduation, weddings, flowers blooming and family vacations.

My challenge is...using SC 388 (found in the SC thread), with any color combination create a card that best suits your beginning to summer, or summer plans. It could be a trip you are planning, a flower that is blooming, a wedding you are attending, or a graduation gathering. Whatever it could be...have fun creating a card to go with it.

Michelle (the "new" 2012 Miss June)

As I said above we were in the throes of moving so that is how my summer started....what fun

Here is the card I came up with...

The card sketch is a 6x6 but I made my card a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 size...I used the Mo Manning image slumber party and thought it gave the idea of moving. I hand wrote the sentiment. The pretty black and white ribbon was gifted to me and the bag background dsp is Imaginise...I had to remove and reattach the main image and it made a mark on my card....since I didn't have time to remake it I had to photo it and post it...

If you have a chance, please stop by the rest of the calendar girls blogs and check out their summer cards..

Thanks for stopping by.
Until next time,

Mo Manning Challenge #140

This month my Sweet friend Paola aka Sweet P is holding a Mo Manning Swap over on SCS Here is the link. Since Sweet P is in Canada, I am trying to get my cards done and sent so I make it on time. Mo herself is involved in the swap...and although I haven't been able to be on line while she is there...I still have learned some fun things from and about her. Ok so getting to the point here...Mo's challenge this week is masculine and in the post it said boys are masculine too...One of the images I am using for my swap is the Sailor group, I used different images for the cards.

Since it is so close to the 4th of July I decided these cards had to be red, white and blue..the red and white strip paper is Pebbles...let freedom ring...the proud to be American printed paper is Reminisce...independence day and the nautical blue dsp is heidi limits. The base of my card is SU night of navy and the accents are SU real red. I colored my images with copic markers and then mounted them in a red oval and popped them up with mounting tape...

On the inside of the card I used the scraps from the front of my card to tie the card together. I didn't put a saying in as I usually put sayings in my cards as I get ready to send them. I made 3 with the American dsp and I made 3 with the striped paper turned over to make a great blue and white patterned paper for the Canadians in this swap. I did make an extra card to keep for myself and am going to send it to my sweet friend who just had a new grandson...I think it would be a fun congratulations card.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you like my card.

Until next time,

June Dueling Darlings

Hi all... first of all I must apologize as I haven't been on the computer for most of the month...I have missed stopping by your blogs. Some of you know and some don't but we moved the last week of May/June 1 being our last day at our old place...let me just say....Moving just isn't my cup of my case..I can't find anything and it will take a good long time to get back to normal (whatever that BUT...I did manage to keep track of the awesome kit that our lovely Diva hostess Jamie sent...I don't know how it happened but I'm so glad it did...(I however had to hunt for tape, score board, cutter etc). The lovely hostess for the Dazzlers was April this month...the two cooked up a masculine kit for us to work with...Jamie, I loved the wonderful kit...chock full of fun things to work with. I knew right away I was going to use the night of navy SU paper along with the pretty navy dsp...The brown dsp Jamie sent was a perfect compliment to the navy...The images are from the SU set "The Open Sea" which I think are the most perfect images for a masculine card. As you can see....I didn't do any coloring and cut out the compass and put a star brad in the center and then popped it up with mounting tape. I took the navy ribbon and tied 3 knots in it and mounted it on the side of the card....

The inside looks like this.....

I used the Bo Bunny dsp from the front and the brown paper Jamie sent along as well...I used 3 brads and wrapped the bakers twine around each brad to add a little to the inside (a personal challenge I am working on --the inside of cards).

The sweet man I was privileged to call "DAD" passed away about 5 years ago. He was patient, kind, honest, loving and a really good sport about things. I have many wonderful memories of my dad...The other man in my life I got to call dad was my father-in-law....oh my what a man he was...he passed away in 1989 but I was very lucky to have been able to get to know him and so were my girls...he loved us "girls" as he had 3 boys...and boy oh boy did he spoil all of us...I have many fond memories of him as well...I miss both of my dads....but hold them close to my heart...I truly have been blessed....

Thank you for stopping by...I hope you get a chance to stop by and see all the wonderful creations the Divas and Dazzlers have in store for you...I am sure you will enjoy them...

P.S. Jamie thanks especially for the yummy chocolate inspiration...what a sweet treat...

Until next time,
