November DDD-Give Thanks

Hi all, Well it is still the 15th....our theme for this month is Giving thanks. Shelly is the hostess for the Dazzlers and I am the hostess for the Divas... meaning that I sent out the kit to our group and Shelly to hers.

This is what the Divas were sent:

The theme Shelly and I chose is "Give Thanks". We were thinking of going Thanksgiving but thought give thanks would/could incorporate Thanksgiving or could be a thank you card. Either way we thought fall colors would be a nice touch. With the Holiday Season upon us we reflect upon all that we have to be thankful for so as an extra we would like you to share (if you are comfortable with it), what you are especially thankful for.

Our kit contains....Wheelbarrow image and sentiment from SU's grateful set. The praying boy and girl is from stampendous. The other sentiment came from hobby lobby. The DSP is from a K & Co paper pack I had in my stash. The ribbon came from Michaels. The glitter brown paper tape is

recollections. The other embellishments are from my stash so I don't have the exact companies.

I hope the Diva's got enough supplies to create with however, they are so creative, I'm sure they would make anything work.

I had a hard time deciding on an image so sent 3 along. Both Shelly and I love the fall colors so rich and vibrant. I found a paper pack that I had picked up several years ago. I loved the colors and wasn't sure what I would use it for but DEFINATELY needed it...lol. Apparently I did need it for this challenge. I did try to use at least one side of each dsp and think I managed to. Since I had such a hard time deciding on an image, I used one on a regular card and one of the others on a 3x3 gift card.
Below are my cards:

I tried using a different kind of ribbon treatment not sure how I feel about it but left it on. I used two ribbons one slightly larger than the other and tied them together in 3 places with bakers twine. I then put some sparkly brown dots in the center of each piece of bakers twine. Here is the inside of the card:

I had sent along leaf stickers as I had gotten them at a garage sale and had several packs. I wasn't sure if I was going to use them but thought they kinda looked nice on the inside of the card.

With my 3x3 I cut thin pieces of the leftover dsp and wove them together to create a background. The colored image just didn't pop with the weaving behind it so I took another scrap and used it as backing for the image.

Here is the front and inside of the 3x3.

Lastly, especially during this holiday season we reflect on what we have to be thankful for. It is difficult to pick just one item as there are so many, however, I must say I'm thankful to be an American where we still have choices and we can chose when we get up in the morning to go where we want/need to, leave our homes without fear of being shot, worship in our choice of religious beliefs and pick our friends. There are so many more things I am thankful for, as I say the list is really long.

I am also, thankful for this group of creative ladies. I know if you stop by and check out their creations, you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for stopping by,
Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

DDD October 2016 All Things Fall

Once again I am late. Life totally has taken over. This weekend I attended my grandsons birthday party one turned one and the other 2...I had them overnight on friday so their parents could put together their birhtday bash. In all the chaos I didn't get my card posted...but did have a good time at the party...

Paola was the hostess for the Dazzlers and Kadie was our leader. The chose the theme all things fall as they both love the season and wanted to include as much as they could...Here is what our kits contained:

Stamp: Whipper Snapper

Sentiment: Stampin Up (I'm here for you) or Papertrey Ink (Happy Autumn)

Paper: Lawn Fawn

Misc embellishments

I loved the WS pumpkin image. and had fun coloring it with my copics. I used my clear glitter to highlight the image. I tried to use all the dsp papers but failed this time. There were some really nice dsp's Kadie sent along and I wish I could have used more of them. I picked the sketch from one on pinterest. I really liked the sketch. I chose basic black as the background and used two of the dsp. Here is the front of my card:

I used the orange button on the bottom right side of the card and threaded the twine through it. Between the image and the back brown piece I used the dark brown ribbon with the orange and white stitched 1/8th inch ribbon on top to separate the two layers.

Here is the inside of my card:

I really liked the brown plaid so I used it to back one of the sentiments Kadie sent along.

I hope you like my card. If you get a chance please stop by the other duelers and check out their creations. I am sure you won't be disappointed,..

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time....

Carol

DDD September-

Hi All, Here I am a day late and a dollar short which seems to be the theme lately. For our duel this month Tracie led the Darlings and Barb challenged the Divas. The kit we got from Barb is adorable and chock full of goodies.. The image is Peachy Keen Stamps Bumpkin "You Whoooooooo Owl" and Barb had some beautiful DSP included along with orange and black ribbons and buttons. Here is the front of my card....

I tried to use as many of the dsp papers Barb had sent along and I managed to get all but one I think as I used another on the inside of my card.

I loved the contrast and brightness of the ribbons so decided they would look good on the inside of the card.

As an extra Barb asked us to share a favorite Halloween Memory.

When we first purchased our house in Stillwater I purchased a huge net strung with lights in the form of a spider. The neighbors had little ones and every night apparently they watched for me to turn on the spider. One night I didn't get to it until I got a call from the neighbor.....Kelsey won't go to bed until she sees the spider come on.....could you please turn it on? No matter what her mom told her she was convinced she couldn't sleep until she saw the spider. From then on I faithfully flipped the switch on the spider the minute I got home from work. We all had a good chuckle with that.

Thanks for stopping by, if you have a moment please stop by and see what the other duelers have created...I know you will not be disappointed.

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

August DDD Going to Rio

I'm late once again. It has been a crazy wild month. This Month Deb was the hostess  for the Dazzlers and Judy was the hostess for the Divas.  Judy sent us a really awesome kit.. I took the deets from Barbs blog as I brought the details to work and I don't have them here with me...they are as follows:

Going to Rio with the Olympic Darlings!  The 2016 Summer Olympics is currently going on, until August 21st.  There will be a record number of countries participating in 306 events in 28 sports.  (there also is a refuge team of 20 athletes, participating under the Olympic flag.)  The motto for the Rio Olympics is "A New World".

Judy sent a variety of great embellishments to go with this cute image.  Judy contacted the owner of Scrappin' Doodles to use her digital image for our duel. Judy sent a sheet of gold, silver and bronze paper--
She also sent along some great dsp...lots of sequins, ribbon, brads and brads  in the colors of the olympic rings. Judy also sent precut olympic rings.

Judy and Debbie also asked us to share our favorite summer Olympic event

I used the dsp on the card as a background. and layered the silver, btronze and gold paper on the bottom.of the front of the card. I used the rings Judy sent along for a side border on my card and bumped my image up so you could see the rings better....I also tied little bows for the hair. Here is the front of my card....

I chose to carry the circle theme throughout the card. I used the saying Judy sent along on the inside of my card. This was a fun kit Judy thanks so much.  Here is the insied:

For the second challenge I have to tell you I think my favorite event of the Summer Olympics is the gymnastics. We went on vacation one year during the Olympics and had to get back to our room so we could watch the gymnastic. Both my girls were gymnists so we were all interested.

Thanks so much for stopping by. If you have time please stop by the other deulers and see there creations. I am sure you will not be disappointed..

Until next time,

Carol

I used the olive button and the pink and white bakers twine to make a flower for the front of the card.  Here is the inside of my card.

Thanks Barb for the awesome kit. It was really fun making this card.

Thank you for stopping by my blog, I really do appreciate it.

Until next time,

DDD July 2016 "Christmas in July"

Hi all, I've been MIA lately. Extra duties at work and orchestrating a shower for my Goddaughter's wedding has been taking a slice of my crafting time. Still crafting only not cards..It is once again time to get our duel on. This month our fearless leaders Jeanette for the Dazzlers and Kelly for the Divas chose "Christmas in July " as our theme. Here is what Kelly sent us and the details.

Hi Divas! The theme for your card kit this month is: Christmas in July!

Jeanette and I decided not to go with a religious Christmas, and instead, we are going traditional. For the Divas, I've given it an extra spin and I'm calling it Whimsical Christmas in July! Every year growing up, my brother and I would wait for the Charlie Brown specials to come on  From the Great Pumpkin to the Charlie Brown Christmas, we'd be glued to the tv. I was lucky to get a few Snoopy stamps before they retired including this Snoopy's Christmas Doghouse, so I chose the papers, embellies to go around Snoopy and his colorful doghouse Cmas lights ♥

Image: Stampendous Snoopy's Doghouse, sentiments are from The Alley Way Stamps "Jolly Holiday", stamped onto Recollections #110 cardtock in Momento Tuxedo Black ink.

DSP: Crate Paper "Snow Days"

Embellishments: Sequin ribbon - Jay's Ribbon Company, loose sequins from HSN, teardrop gems from Recollections, Bling from Kaiser; buttons from Prima, Basic Grey; mics ribbons from offray, SU!, Hobby Lobby.

Your extra challenge this month is this: The Divas and Dazzlers are getting a jump start on Christmas this year with our theme "Christmas in July". Please share in your post: what is the first thing you do each year to get in the Christmas spirit?
Happy Crafting and MERRY CHRISTMAS!  ~Kelly

I had fun with this kit and the image is so cute, I chose to use all four of the dsp papers Kelly sent us. I colored the image with copics and I used black sparkly paper as a base. I have used a little glitter on each of the bulbs strung on Snoopy's house. I wrapped the bakers twine around one of the layers then threaded it through one of the buttons Kelly sent along. I wanted to use more embellishments but I wanted to keep it clean so the dsp stood out and the image was highlighted. I hope you like my card.

Here is the inside.

For the second challenge the first thing that gets me in the Christmas spirit is to put Christmas music on and putting up the tree right after Thanksgiving. As a child we never put up a tree until the week of Christmas which I really didn't like. We usually had a form of a Charlie Brown tree....but it always had awesome goodies under it. As I got older I would wait until everyone went to bed, turn off the lights, turn on the Christmas tree lights and listen to Christmas music....it was awesome.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I really appreciate it. Please take time and visit the other duelers blogs, I know you won't be disappointed.

Until next time,

Hugs,

Carol

From the Heart June Stamp of the Month Challenge

Well I'm getting this posted late but hopefully in time. I found the From the Heart Challenges and have been trying to get in as many as possible. The June Stamp of the month challenge is Here..I purchased my stamp early on, colored the image in two different color combos and then got tied up in projects at work and at home. Since we are able to still post today I got my card finished and photographed and here it is:

I hope you like my card. I used a 6x6 designer pack of paper I have had around the house for quite a few years. The base is Pacific Point and Melon Mambo from Staupin Up. I colored the image with copics and added some blue mini tear drop gems from recollections.

Thank you for stopping by. I do hope you like my card. Please stop by the From the Heart site and see the cute images they have.

Until Next time,

Creative Card Chicks Challenge June

Our hostess this month is Debby and she sent along a great kit. It contained images, a kraft square card with an envelope and beautiful dsp as well as lace, flowers and several other embellies. How fun it was to play with. Debby asked us to make at least one square card and if we had time do another. I have enough for a couple more cards but ran out of time I chose to color my image with copics and to make it look like the jar acutally had water in it I used crystal effects to make the water shiny. The picture doesn't show how beautiful the ivory paper is that is the background for the oval image but it is amazing. I used the burlap and lace along with another pieces of the dsp to lay the base for the image and topped it off with the flowers in the corner, I only got a square card done.  Here is what I came up with.

Thank you for stopping by. I do appreciate it.

Until next time,

i {heart} sketches with a tWist #156

Well I'm finally getting my card finally posted for this challenge. Last week I attempted to get a card done and failed so am happy I got one done this week. The sketch this week is Here. I had purchased the "martini chicks" image when I first went shopping on this site. I thought it was so cute and loved the saying. I colored my image with copics and used the sketch. I found the bright DSP in my stash and used the new SU in color pink paper for the base. I also used a glimmer pen to color over the glasses and liquid in the glasses to try and give the glasses a more real look.

Here is my card:

And here is the inside:

Thanks for stopping by. I do appreciate it.

DDD June Challenge---Pets

Hi all, it is again time for the DDD challenge our wonderful hostesses are Darlene for the Dazzlers and LJ for the Divas... Here is what LJ sent us....

Anyways, as you have noticed, you have received some cute dog images from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. Our theme this month is Pets! Darlene and I decided on this theme when we saw each other at Camp-Stamp-In-Oga a few months ago.

Rest of the kit includes:

Patterned Papers from Paper Studio
Ribbon - Stampin Up
Banners - Spare Parts / Paper Studio
Bow - Spare Parts / Paper Studio
Brads: Recollections (Michaels)
Buttons: Papertrey Ink - Vintage Fall Collection.

What a fun kit to play with. Love the Kraftin Kimmie image...that little dog is adorable. I loved the kit. I used a technique challenge on Splitcoast stampers called a hinge card. I'm not sure if I did it correctly but do like how it turned out. It is a 5x5 card. I colored the image with copic markers and added the banner on the inside as well as a button on the front. The little burlap bow looked good on the bone and I also used some of the ribbon LJ sent. The bakers twine went through the button on the front of the card.

Here is my card:

and here is my card open:

I must apologize for the pictures...I thought I was WAY ahead this month (so far ahead I forgot I needed to post this...uggghhhh). The card has been done for a couple days but I hadn't taken a picture...so I had to take the picture in poor lighting...so again I'm sorry for the poor quality.

Thank you for stopping by, I do appreciate it. If you have a chance, please stop by the other blogs I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Until next time.

I {heart} sketch challenge #154 with a twist

Well I'm back with another challenge issued by the challenge team at From the Heart Stamps. I scooped up the 48 hour freebie Frog and Frozen Flies to use on this challenge. The twist to the challenge was to show off your coloring skills. I've been practicing on my coloring skills for years and no matter how it turns out.....I am in awe of everyone else's coloring skills. I know we are our own critics so I keep plugging along and trying different things with my copic coloring. The sketch I used was here

Sketch154

I chose to turn my sketch and the banners are a little closer than on the actual sketch, The base of the card is  SU old olive, the next layer is SU basic gray and the dsp is Cloud 9 baby boy ribbit.  I used white enamel dimensional faux enamel for the dots on this little guys head. I also used of course glitter on the ants.I used my paper piercer and a template I picked up several years ago. I cut around the frog and mounted him on my card with mounting tape.  Here is my card:

Thanks so stopping by, I do appreciate it.

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

A Day for Daisies Challeng #148 Use Vellum

Lately I've been wanting to do a couple challenges. I've looked at "A Day for Daisies" challenges but I never got my card done and posted in time..Life kind of got in the way. I did get a card done however for this challenge . I chose to use the skirt of flowers image for my card. The challenge was to use vellum. I cut the background out of vellum and fussy cut the image out once I finished coloring it. I used copics to color the image and topped it off with glitter. This pretty gal has blue eye shadow and I put a little glitter on her lids to show off the shadow. It doesn't photograph very well but in real life it adds a little something. In between the two vellum cuts I used smokey slate ribbon from SU. I finished it all off by adding some little pearls on the vellum and ribbon.

Here is my card:

I hope you liked my card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

From the Heart Sketches #153 with a twist

The past week while looking through some fun blogs I ran into Imke's blog My Crafty Space and while I was scrolling through, I was in awe of the cards she was making using From the Heart stamps Here. They have some really fun challenges so I signed up to follow their challenge blog. I am doing the Sketch Challenge #153.

 Sketch153
While I was browsing I picked up a couple digi images and try my hand at a challenge or two. Here is my card for this challenge.
It was a ton of fun trying this out. The image is What's up Chick?. I used SU navy cardstock for the base and some misc dsp I had around the house, The red and yellow polka dot is DWCV Spring and Summer Cork Stack. I loved the cork paper as it had it's own adhesive on the back. A little bit of a challenge to cut with my fiskers smaller cutter but I think it worked out ok....

Thanks so much for stopping by, I do appreciate it.

Until next time,

Carol

Crazy Card Chicks May 2016

This month Suzy sent out envelopes to our group containing Betsy the Beekeeper  (SU) which is retired. The set came out in the late 90's and was fun to revisit the images. We also got gold card stock from paper studios embossed with a honeycomb embossing folder. We also got Authentique honeycomb paper Eloise Floral (paper studios) Country Damask (paper studios) punched out flowers , sequins, gold cord and rose ribbon. Wow what a fun kit. I had fun playing with the envelope of goodies... Here is my card:

Although it is kind of difficult to see I did make a flower behind the punched out flower with the gold cord.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like my card.

Until next time.

Carol

May 2016 DDD---"May Flowers"

It is once again time to get our duel on. This month our lovely hostesses were Terry L for the Dazzlers and Tami for the Divas. I love the kit that Tami sent. The image was from Red Rubber designs--Oh no she didn't and the DP from Cosmo Cricket. Tami also sent two dry embossed sheets of paper a green one with sizzix "Sugar" embossing and a red piece embossed with sizzix "dots and flowers" as well as a goodie bag with some very fun embellies. We also had a second challenge this month......inquiring minds would like to know what flowers we plant yearly--more on that to come.

For my card I colored the sweet little image with copic colors. I chose a sketch from SCS--SC 507 and went to work. I probably should have chose a different sketch where the image focal point was a bit smaller but I do like how this turned out. I loved the red embossed sheet and the polka dot dp the minute I opened my pack so worked around those colors. When I looked at the dimensions of the focal image at first it looked too top heavy with plain blue sky so I added the large yellow dot Tami sent along to represent the sun and the red ribbon trimmed in irredescent thread tied in a bow along the side, this way the sky didn't look so big. I used the yellow flower dp trimmed in red as an accent in back of the focal image and red layer but it doesn't show up much. A little bling added to the ribbon finished off my card. This month I didn't do the inside of the card but plan to with some of the scraps I have left after cutting this cute paper to make my card.....so here is my card:

I took the picture outside in the bright sunlight but somehow it didn't capture the true depth of the colors.

For the second challenge...when I lived in a home where I could plant flowers, every year without fail I would plant dahlia's right to the side of the entrance of the house. I loved the flowers and would most years plant more than one color of dahlia. Some years I would plant the same color but not very often as the multi colored garden made my heart sing.....It really cheered up the front of the house and I really loved to look at them. One home I had a large raised garden in the back of the house that I planted so that it would have flowering colors from early spring to fall. That was a pleasure to look at as well. I now live in a townhome and we can't plant outside the house but I plan on doing some container plants on our deck to add some cheer when we sit out there or just look out the sliding glass door.

Thanks for stopping by today. If you have a chance please stop by the other duelers. I am certain you will not be disappointed they are a really creative group of ladies.

Until next time.

Hugs,
Carol

DDD April 2016 "Swing into Sprig"

Hi all, it is once again dueling time and we all have our craft on. This month Terry A was the hostess for the Dazzlers and Suzy was the hostess for the Divas. Well let me just tell you.....Suzy sent the most yummy kit. I love the colors of the DSP paper she sent and all the wonderful embellies...here is what she sent:

Terry A. and I decided to do spring for April. So, our theme is "swing into spring" or "spring". Not sure how we decided to word it! Some of you haven't even seen spring yet!!

So, we would like you to use the paper and goodies to make a "spring" card!

Here is the info on the goodies that were sent....

I used Craft Smither paper pad....Chelsea Lane....bought it at Michaels.

Stamp and sentiment: A Kind Word...SU...retired. Stamped on Georgia Pacific (white) with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Clip is from my stash

Bling is from The Paper Studio

Flowers from Spareparts....The Paper Studio

Ribbon: Grosgrain ribbon: golden from The Ribbon Boutique (Hobby Lobby); Organza ribbons (Ivory, Rose and Navy Blue) The Ribbon Boutique (H.L.)

The second part of your challenge is to let us know what your favorite dessert that was made usually in the Spring....maybe something that was only made at Easter time. If you want...share the recipe! We can always use more dessert recipes!!

I immediately colored my image and then started to think about what I wanted to do for a layout. All the papers were so amazing I wanted to include each and everyone of them....(truth be told I would have liked to hoard them but.....) oh well, I'll just keep this card in a special stack for someone special.....lol. I chose a layout from SCS sketch challenges SC552...it had enough layers and would work for my image to fit most of the dsp on. After completing the front of the card I used the other two pieces inside the card so I was able to use all of the beautiful dsp on my card.
I added the Cheery Lynn Designs....Mini Fanciful Flourish  Suzy sent along with some of the flowers on the front of the card as well. This was a fun card to do and came together quickly once I got started. Here is the front of my card:

Here is the inside of the card.:

As for the challenge regarding our favorite dessert for spring.....I have many but my favorite spring/summer dessert is Banana Split Dessert . Here is the recipe:

Banana Split Dessert
Ingredients
2 cups graham cracker crumbs (reserve a few for the top of the dessert)
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 pound butter, melted
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

4 bananas, sliced
1 (15 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
1 (16 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
sliced strawberries

Directions

Combine the graham cracker crumbs, white sugar and melted butter. Mix together and press into a 9x13 inch cake pan; refrigerate until chilled.
Beat together the cream cheese and confectioners' sugar; spread over graham cracker crust.
Layer bananas, pineapple and strawberries over cream cheese mixture; cover fruit with whipped topping.
Top with reserved cracker crumbs refrigerate and serve chilled. ( you can also drizzle chocolate syrup on top of the cool whip and add peanuts and drained cherries)

This dessert is so refreshing and honestly I always want a second piece but just cut a BIG piece for my first piece so I don't go back for more....lol

Thanks for stopping by. I know this is long but, if you have a chance to visit the other Duelers.....please do. I know you won't be disappointed. I know you will see some awesome cards and maybe pick up some new recipes to boot.....

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

DDD March 2016 For the Dogs

This month I had the privilege of being the hostess for the Diva' and Shelley was the hostess for the Dazzlers. This is Shelly's first month  hosting so it has been alot of fun working with her. Here is what I posted to the Divas...

This month Shelly is the hostess for the Dazzlers and I am the hostess for the Divas. This month rather than going with the traditional St Patrick's Day holiday/theme, we searched the weird holidays for March. On the 10-13 it is Crufts--the worlds largest dog show and on the 23rd is National Puppy day.....thus leading for the theme "for the dogs". I hope you are liking your kits....as an extra bonus question....if you would like to share. Did you have a pet growing up...if so what kind and name.

My kit contains DSP : echo park--Dog Border and Puppy love--Jillibean dancing dogs and Fido Fun. --also Paper Studios multi colored paws. --The images are Whipper Snapper: Shelly Sheepdog and Good news Puppy also Bugawumps --Schnauzer (I couldn't pick so you get to...) I have included ribbons from my stash as well as some puffy paws, and glitter dog bones from Hobby Lobby. I'm hoping you have fun playing with the kit and there is enough to create with...Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with. I'm sure it will be awesome!!!

When putting my card together I did it a bit backwards. I should have had my card done earlier than today but got behind the 8 ball and life took over. I used the Shelly Sheepdog image by Whipper Snapper. ( I had so many dog choices I loved so I sent a few images to work with). Shelly the Sheepdog however, must be my favorite...lol as I always seem to use this image when working with  a dog theme. I didn't have much dog DSP but lucked out finding the papers I sent on line. I used copics to color my image and adapted SC581 sketch challenge to follow through on the card. Here is my card front  and inside :

For the extra challenge we asked everyone if they had pets when they were young if so what were they and the name. Well......my mom was a city girl and my dad a farmers son....dad loved animals mom only if they were where they were supposed to be (not in her house). Somehow my brother convinced my mom we should have a dog so our first dog was a mutt named Pokey..the dog was not in the house much (only if mom wasn't), but I am impressed to this day that she gave in and he was persistent enough to keep up the pressure to get a dog to make him one happy boy.....

If you get a chance please stop by the other duelers and check out their creations....I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Until next time...
Hugs,
Carol

DDD Young at Heart

Hi all....wow, wow, wow am I late...I don't know where my head was this month...the 15th just flew by and totally went right over my head. YIKES.. This month our lovely hostesses were Paola for the Dazzlers and Kadie for the Divas...what a fun kit we got. Loved it. My card however did not turn out the way it looked in my head but will try another one at a later date as I have tons left to make another card...

Here is what Kadie had to say:

Hello, Divas!

Paola and I are your hostesses for February’s Duel and our theme is “Being a Kid at Heart.”
For this theme you are to use your kit to create a kid card or project.
Paola came up with the idea for you to use at least 1 heart on your card and gift it to a child in your life (family, friend, neighbor, etc). I have provided a few heart brads to help with the first requirement.
The card/project can be any occasion to suit the child that you have in mind. For this reason, I didn’t include a sentiment, but would love for you to include one that fits.

Lastly, you are invited to share what your favorite game as a kid was. Maybe it is still your favorite!
Thanks for joining in on the fun this month!
Love, Kadie

In this kit:
Stamps: Mickey/Minnie (stamped in Stazon Ink) unknown brand, The Greeting Farm Ezra (stamped in Memento Ink)
Paper: Sandy Lion Mickey Mouse, EK Success Mickey Mouse, Simple Stories Say Cheese
Embellishments: baker’s twine, red stitched ribbon and gray ribbon from SU, Creative Impressions heart brads, EK Success Mickey sticker brads, EK Success Mickey
punch cutouts, hello/smile die cuts from The Greeting Farm, Doodlebug sequins

I loved the Mickey and Minnie images and couldn't wait to put them to use. I was going to attempt a lever card but got confused with the directions I had so went with something I was sure of. I used the cute polka dot dsp and a few of the embellies. Here is the front of my card.

Here is the inside of my card. I love the little mouse cut out that Kadie sent along. Just had to use it somewhere.

As you can see, I have had a difficult time of posting my cards. One of these days I'll get it and then my computer will be changed again, Wish I was more adept to using them.

As a young girl I liked many games but I remember hop scotch, jacks, and hoola hoops as being among my favorites.

Thank you for stopping by, please stop by the other duelers and check out their creations. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

January DDD--Soup Get Well

Well here we are....starting out 2016 with a new challenge for the Dueling Darlings. This month our wonderful hostesses' are Tracie for the Dazzlers and Barb for the Divas. The kit I got from Barb was awesome. Full of all kinds of goodies. The image is a Whipper Snapper design--Chicken Soup--- Stampin up DSP Comfort Cafe---and buttons, brads, ribbons and small pearls. Lots of fun things to play with. I loved the colors of the dsp. I tried to match the colors on my image with the dsp. I found a sketch in my pile of sketch challenges I have printed out and went to work. I used white linen paper as the base of my card and built from there. I felt that the card would be a bit too busy looking on the front with the dsp if there was too many embellishments. I chose a taupe button and threaded a piece of ribbon through the button holes. Over all I think  keeping the embellishments on the simple side accented the wonderful image Barb chose.

On the inside of the card I used left over dsp and cut the paper into 1"pieces and arranged them into a diamond shape on the inside. I then put the little taupe pearls on the sides of the middle square. They were too cute not to include on the card. I managed to get some extra tape runner on the inside of the card once it was finished. I got the tape off but not without a smudge to prove I messed up. I took a left over piece of the dsp and placed it ''over the smudge to complete the card.

As an extra request we were asked to share our favorite soup recipe. I have a few favorite recipes but one of my favorites is Chicken Corn Chowder. I ran across the recipe in a weight watchers magazine and it has turned out to be a favorite in our family.

Cheddar Corn Chowder

Cooking spray ½ cups all purpose flour
1 lb bite sized pieces chicken 2 cups reduced fat milk
1 cup chopped onion 1 can whole kernel corn drained
1 cup diced red pepper 3 oz shredded cheddar cheese
1 tblsp minced garlic ½ tsp salt
4½cups chicken broth ¼ tsp pepper
1 ¾cups peeled & diced potato

Coat dutch oven with cooking spray. Add bacon & cook until
crisp. Add chicken, onion, bell pepper & garlic to bacon fat in pan
& saute’ 5 minutes. Add broth & potato. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce
reduce heat & simmer 20 minutes or until potato is tender. Add corn
stir well.

Place flour in a medium bowl. Gradually add milk, stirring with a whisk
until blended. Add milk mixture to soup& cook over medium heat 15
minutes or until thick, stirring frequently. Remove from heat, stir in Cheese and bacon bits and enjoy!!
