Crafters of Faith March 2013

Happy Easter all...."He Lives" for sure...This month Jeanette was our hostess and she laid out the following challenge:

March Theme:
Hostess: Jeanette
Since we will be posting on Easter Sunday – March 31 – and since we are Crafters of Faith, I’d like us to create a religious-themed Easter card. No Easter bunnies and such, but instead a card that focuses on the Risen Lord! It can include Scripture and/or images, but needs to focus on the religious aspect of the holiday.

He is not here; he has risen! (Luke 24:6)

For my card I used paper I had purchased for my daughters wedding invitations last August and the dies were ones I have had for awhile as well as the paper roses and pearl pen. I didn't use any stamps on my card as I felt there was enough going on with out adding more...However a sentiment will be added to the inside and I am sure that anyone who see's this will know it is a faith filled card...

Here is my card:

I do hope you like this card....Please take time and visit the other Crafters of Faith as I am sure you will be truly inspired by their amazing cards,

Thanks for stopping by...

Until next time,

Calendar Girls March 2013

Well here it is once again the 28th of the month and time for the Calendar girls monthly challenge...Our challenge this month came from the lovely, talented Tami and this is what she wrote:

Miss March: Tami

Um, I hope I do not hurt anyone's feelings here but we are all a little bit of paper hoarders!!!

Well, we are going to have to give up the security blanket for March. I would like to see your best created card with NO designer paper. *gasp*.....*thud* {I think J just hit the floor}.

So go ahead and grab your 'old school stamps' - yep, like a set you have not used in years - and create a card for the Calendar Girls.

Oh, and let's try to keep in theme with 'use what'cha got', please no new purchases for this round. Use what'cha got...well, everything but designer paper that is!

I cannot wait to see what my friends come up with. It is always something to look forward to!

Sooooooo, with that said I decided to go old school with my supplies as well...I'm not entirely sure I like how my card turned out but I did follow Tami's instructions (at least I think I did).

Here is my card with my "old school" supplies:

I don't know if you remember the old metallic pencils SU used to sell or the wood colored pencils they sold as well....I used night of navy and bashful blue card stock for my card. I stamped the dress stamp in versamark and embossed the image with clear embossing powder. I then colored the dress with both kinds of pencils and of course used my trusty glittah on the flowers and hanger. Down the back of the dress I put little pearl buttons using a white pearl pen. Since we couldn't use dsp I dry embossed the navy panels and used versamark inside the folder and then poured clear embossing powder over the dry embossed  paper (that had versamark pressed into it from the folder) and heated it giving it a shiny darker textured piece of cardstock. (all of the supplies and the stamp are a few years old). The newest item I used were the pearls in the corners that were purchased from SU about 9 months ago...

I did try and give the dress some dimension using a pink colored pencil and a darker pink metallic pencil (in the ruffles and inside of the dress).

This was a fun challenge Tami....thanks for throwing it out for us to do....

Please stop by the other Calendar girls blogs and when you get to Miss February (our Kelly), make sure you wish her HAPPY BIRTHDAY....I know you will love all the creations and Kelly will love the birthday greetings..

Until next time,

DDD for March 2013

Here we are the 16th of March already and the Duel has been on for a day (I missed posting yesterday since I have been having much trouble with my computer). But I had my hubby check it out and got it at least to where I can post...??? Oh well I'm hoping with a little more work he can get it back to normal...Enough of that ...On to my challenge for this month. Our lovely hostess for the Divas was our newest member (YAY) Kadie, and the Darlings hostess was the amazing April. They chose to highlight St Patrick's day and blessings..and OH MY what a kit we got to play with. Needless to say I got so much I have left overs to make a few more cards and I made use of alot of the kit...

Here is my card:
I made a gate fold card using the Lilybee Design fat quarter for the front sides and the other side of the same paper for the background of the cute MFT  ala mode "Wishing you Luck' image. I colored the image with copics and used glitter on the shamrock, the cute girls headband and shoes. I placed the rhinestone embellishments in the corners of the black image background. I loved the little pansy strip from another of the dsp's so I placed that on the bottom of each side. On the inside of the card I took one of the little cut out cards and cut the March off the front of the card, turned the bottom of it around, placed the Celtic blessing on that side and taped the March on top from the front of the card. I think it worked out ok..

We were asked to post a recent RAK we have initiated or have been the recipient of...The most recent I was a recipient of. As some of you know I have worked part-time in a bridal shop selling dresses and accessories for over a year. I helped a young lady with her wedding dress and had such a good time with her and her mom. This young lady had donated one of her kidney's to a stranger (a lady who happened to be a religious leader), She had moved her wedding up so the recipient of  her kidney can preform the wedding. That was the first random RAK, anyway, I also helped her when she and her mom came in to pick out bridesmaid dresses for her that time the mom handed me an envelope (which she had planned to have one of the other consultants  deliver if I wasn't there). I was really busy that day and didn't get a chance to open the card until much later that evening....inside the thank you card was a picture of me and her beautiful daughter in the wedding dress she chose on the first visit along with a very generous VISA gift card...I was overwhelmed and surprised to say the very least. What a kind, kind, mother daughter pair they were. Later that month the mom came in to pick up a color swatch and I was able to thank her once again in person...(I did send a thank you note however I didn't have the mom's address and couldn't find in by googling). What an impact they had made separately and together in many peoples lives just doing what came natural to them....I am grateful I met these beautiful earth angels....

Thank you for stopping by, please stop by the other Dueling members and check out their creations, I am sure you won't be disappointed..

Until next time...
