Kit #6

Hi all, I'm here to show you what I made with the awesome kit Jeanette sent me. First I have to apologize, Jeanette sent me a list with the deets on it, somehow, I misplaced it. I wanted to get these cards posted as I have my kit from Melina to try and get ready for tomorrow and an awesome kit from Terry to dig into so here goes... Jeanette sent me 3 images as she said she couldn't They all pertained to "rain" I loved them all but I did color up two of them and made cards. I will have to save the other for a "rainy" day and color them up. My first card I made was with the Lalaland image. This girl is so cute I just had to use her for one of my cards. I colored her with copics and her rain hat and umbrella are covered with crystal effects to mimic a wet rainy day. Her little boots have crystal effects as well. I used tempting turquoise from SU for the base of the card---the rest is from the kit. Here is my card:

I loved the beautiful blue flowers Jeanette sent along and as we all know "April showers bring May flowers"

On my second card I used the Whipper Snapper image Jeanette sent. I colored this cutie with copics and added some of the pearls that were in the kit on the polka dots on her umbrella. The card is an easel card and I used the pretty pink ribbon to hold the card at it's angle. I used cream paper for the base otherwise everything else is from this cute kit..Here is my card:

I hope you like what I created with the kit you sent Jeanette. I know I sure had fun. Thanks so much.....

Thanks for stopping by...I'll be back soon with my card from Melina's kit.

Until next time,

Calendar Girls March Challenge

Well here we are the Calendar girls are once again enjoying a fun challenge... This month our hostess was Tami and here is what she wrote:

Hostess: Tami

March Challenge

Oh girls, we are going to create a card this month! I thought of a few things that might keep us busy for March.

Did you know that March used to be the first month of the year on the Roman calendar? It was changed to the third month by Julius Caesar. The calendar we use today is refined from the Julius to the Gregorian. Sadly, we only gained like the wee bit of a percentage of more time to craft with the change! In theme of the original first month, let's use one button on your card.

Let's make a card based on a sketch. I saw this sketch and wanted to use it at some point. It's time! Please note, the sketch challenge is still open, so be sure to join!

Speaking of Romans, purple is the color of the day. Please use the color purple on your card somewhere. Purple was worn by Roman Emperors and magistrates. It is also the color worn by those cute little ladies you see out lunching together, wearing purple and red and a bunch of hats!

Since history was after lunch for me in high school, I really had to put my 'dig deep to remember' thinking cap on for this one! Here are the CliffsNotes: one button, use the sketch and purple somewhere on your card.

Well I have been in the middle of my card kit swap and have been making cards daily....even writing down the date many, many, many times in the day I still missed the morning post today. Whatever made me think there were a couple more days, escapes me..anyway, I am here with my card and still on the 28th...ugghhhh...

This was a fun challenge Tami...thanks so much..

Here is my card.

Using the Cliffs Notes...purple check for sure, one button...check and the sketch...check..I've covered everything.. I found this stamp at our new Hobby Lobby and really liked it. The mounting color is concord grape and the dsp is white embossed dsp I purchased from Archivers before they closed. I took a sponge and sponged on T Hotlz lilac ink...

Thank you for stopping by, please take a bit of time and stop by the other calendar girls blogs and check out their creations. I am sure you will not be disappointed....

Kit #5

Hi all, today I am showing you the card I created from the wonderful kit Jennifer sent me. It contained orange, hot pink and green designer paper along with adorable images. It also, contained ribbon light green rhinestones and more embellies..I will for sure be able to make another couple cards. The images were of a clothesline and a cute set of canisters. I colored both up and in my mind they were going to both work on this card. The front of the card has dsp  on the front to give the illusion of wall paper and a window looking out to the back yard. I was going to put the canisters on the window ledge...however, they were too big for the size of the I said yesterday my mind goes one direction and my card....another, but I did accomplish at least half of my

Here is my card:

I used green dsp purchased at a sale a while ago...and colored my image with copics. (of course I added some glitter to the image..heehee).

Here is the inside:

I colored the white paper with pan pal chalks, they are a bit light on this picture but a little darker in real life. I cut grass with a die cut and the same green card stock I used for the base of the card. I hope you like how I used your kit was fun and I loved it...

Thanks for stopping by, I do appreciate it. I received two kits today, one from Jeanette and one from Melina so I will be coloring, crafting and having a ton of fun...both kits are full of many fun items and I can't wait to dig into them...(my mind is churning with ideas...)

Kit #4

I'm back with another kit card. This kit came from Kelly and ohhhhhh myyyy was it filled with glittery goodness. The dsp was glittery there was glitter tape, glittery, wow. wow. This is what the kit contained. The image from The Cat's Pajama's had never seen ink until I got to play with a new immie...K& Co DSP-Glitter paper DCWV (I still have) Flower from prima giltter tape from galiant, lace, misc buttons bling gray bakers twine Bo-Bunny brads...and more..What a fun kit. I love this swap as each time I receive a kit my mind takes off. (sometimes it goes and my hands/card doesn't follow but oh well)
I colored the image with Copics and used glaze on the frog and lily pad. I also added more glittah to the image..

Here is my card:

I have another image colored and ready to go glitter glaze and all in a different color scheme. I just didn't get a chance to get another card done yet. I made the litte rose in the corner from the dsp that is behind this sweet little fairy. I mounted the rose on a thin sliver bow I made with the thin silver ribbon and tied it with the grey bakers twine. I popped it up with a mounting dot. I hope you like the card Kelly...I sure did have fun creating.

Thanks for stopping by, I really do appreciate it.

Until next time,

Stay tuned I got another kit today from Jennifer and it looks like a really fun one. so I hope to be posting again before the week is up..

Third Card Kit

I received my third card kit from Barb on Monday. Barb knows me...she sent me a beautiful black and white, fun, fun....I just had to dig into it asap. The kit was full of goodies. Images: Gina K Time, Tim Holtz Life's possibilities. PTI  text style Black & white & white bakers twine, black glitter ribbon, black moonstitch, black thing grossgrain and black satin ribbon. Also, included were black & white brads, black buttons  and black crystals. I created two cards from this kit but have plenty more things left over I could easily make at least 3-4 more cards.

Here is my first card....

I cut up a couple sheets of the smaller sized dsp and mounted it on white paper and then stuck it at a diagonal pattern onto the black base.  (I got a beautiful card for my birthday that used this kind of background). I mounted the image onto a black nestie (you can't see it too well) and then mounted everything on the background. I made a little flower for the front from the black thin ribbon and used a white brad for the center.

Here is the inside:
The sentiment is on a piece of black folded over and can be removed from the card and used for a book mark. This was a fun card to do...

Here is my second card:
The black and white looks more brown but it is black and white. While sitting at work I decided the clock image should be on a round easel card....As you can see, I used two of the dsp pieces to create the front. I also put glitter on the watch, the roman numerals, the hands and the little timer at the bottom as well as the fob at the top.

Here is the inside:
I love this saying. as you can see I buffed it up with a little distress ink (like the watch on the front)., cut out the sentiment and mounted it on dsp. I then took the glitter ribbon and made a small bow to hold the front up and finished it with 3 black crystals. Barb I hope you like what I did with your awesome kit...thanks so much.

Thanks for stopping by,

Until next time,

2nd card Kit

Here I am again, with another card kit. To date I have received 3 of the kits for my month. Pansy sent me my second kit and her kit contained several pieces of DSP she was unsure of the maker, Darices Chick in overalls Inkadinkado Happy spring stampabilities Happy Easter Bunny images. Many brads and several ribbons. I chose to use the cute chick in overalls as the image I made my two cards from (I had to make a boy and girl of

Here are the cards I made with Pansy's kit (I have alot left over and can make more cards for sure).

This is my boy chick....

And here is my girl...
I did the inside of the girl card as well.

Thank you for the fun kit Pansy, I hope you like the cards I created.

Thanks for stopping by. I received Barb's kit yesterday and have 1 card done so hoping to have another done tonight so I can post them on thursday.

Kit Cards

Hi All, Surprised....heehee..I guess I am too. It has been awhile since I have posted twice in a week...This full time working is really messing up my computer/crafting time. I have joined a kit swap lead by our own creative Jeanette. The idea of the swap is to send out 1 kit each month to the person who is assigned to the month. We have a choice of getting surprise kit or requesting /giving ideas to the kit senders. This is my month and I chose to be surprised. My first kit came from Tami. It included a cute bunny image and sentiments from Hampton Art Studios, dsp "I do peonies" (pink) and "Blue skies come on get happy" (polka dot) from American Crafts. Tami also sent a little baggie full of fun embellies...I have enough left over for more cards but here are the two I created from her kit...(THANK YOU TAMI).

and the inside of this one..

What a fun kit to work with. I hope you like what I created...

Thanks for stopping by, I will be making another couple posts this week as I have received two more kits...This is so much fun. Thanks Jeanette for creating the swap and thanks again Tami for the fun, fun, fun, kit..

DDD Challenge--March 2014-Umbrellas

Hi all, it is once again time for our monthly duel and like always it is a ton of fun. Again I am a bit late but it is still the 15th so technically, I'm close to on time. The hostesses for this month were Terry for the Dazzlers and our own LJ (Laura Jean) for the Divas. Here is what LJ wrote:

Hello Divas ~

It's time for the March duel! Like most of you (except Kelly - who I am throwing virtual snow-balls at right now) I am so ready for spring and summer! One of the many signs of spring is rain and umbrellas, and as March is National Umbrella Month, we are going with an Umbrella them this month.

The details/contents of the kit are below. I have added a little bit of a twist to the challenge (Terry is not doing this - that I know). I found these 7 Gypsies Manilla Folders awhile ago at HL and I thought it would be fun for us to use these as your card base. It's not required, but It's just an idea I thought I would toss out there.

Stamps (image and sentiment) : Unity Stamps

Paper: Cosmo Cricket Earth Love Collections (Includes Journal ling type cards)

Accessories: Buttons (mostly PTI and Basic Grey), Ribbon (SU!, American Crafts, Offray), Vanilla Brads (SU!), Hodgepodge Clips & Ribbon Holder (SU), Mulberry Paper Flowers (Prima), & 7 Gypsies Manilla Folder.

Can't wait to see what you post on the 15th! Happy Crafting!

Love LJ!

Now as far as I am concerned....I will gladly trade winter coat, boots and snow for spring and summer rain and umbrellas, hands down no contest. It has been so dang cold and snowy here this year that I am doubly sick of winter. Anyway, on to the duel. As LJ asked I did use my file folder for the base of my card. I struggled with how I was going to use it but eventually came up with this,

When I got the kit I immediately looked at the pretty dsp and colored my image. I put crystal effects on the umbrella and the gals boots, I then took white stickles and made rain drops on the umbrella and their clothe Now came the tricky part.....keeping everything together until I finally put the card together. I must say that was as difficult as figuring out how to incorporate the file folder as the main card. I finally decided to cut the folder down a bit so it would be a standard A2 size.l I then covered the whole file with pistachio pudding SU cardstock and started building from there. LJ had included card stock journal cards from the dsp so I cut one of them down, then fussy cut my image and mounted it on my new journal card. I then had to try and figure out how to hold the flap down. I used the pistachio pudding card stock topped with a bit of one of the other dsp's and tacked them down with the ivory brads. I tied a ribbon through one of the buttons and attached it to this strip so the flap could be inserted under the strip and be held down with the button..

Inside I took more of the base color and added another strip of the dsp to the inside. I mounted the sentiment to the same dsp as I used on the strip on the front of the card. I really was surprised that it turned out pretty well.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I am sure you will be impressed with the other creations the Duelers have on their blogs. Please stop by and check them out.

Until next time,

Carriers of Faith March 2014 - Thankfulness

Our hostess this month is Zella and here is what she inspired ut to do this month:

March Challenge: Thankfulness

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I've been thinking a lot about prayer lately. Then last night I was talking with a friend at church and she said "don't you sometimes feel like our prayers are list a list of requests?". That really challenged me. Yes, we are supposed to take our needs and requests to Him. But our prayers should also be about praise and worship - about thanking Him for ALL He has done for us. These verses are short - but the are packed with power! "Rejoice evermore". It's a choice you know? I chose to rejoice because He has made me exceedingly glad! I chose to rejoice even when things are difficult because He will bring me through and He is right by my side!

So what am I asking for with regards to your posts and pictures? Two things:
1. Share about something that you are thankful for....not the big things that everyone is always thankful for - but those little things that we seem to overlook...that we take for granted.
2. Share about why you rejoice and why you worship Him.
(And of course share photos!)

And there is one last part to this challenge. The prayer part. Before you sit down to write your post, pray and ask God to direct your words and your heart. And when you are done writing your post, pray for people who will read your post...that they will somehow be challenged or blessed...that the Lord will speak to them through your words and your blog.

I have thought about this challenge all month and as I am doing things I say little prayers of thanks and gladness., I find myself thanking God for the green light when I am running late, patience when I am challenged and for help in controlling myself when I feel strongly about something and want to blurt out my feeling especially at work. Most recently I have been thanking him for the gift of sight and the wonderful Dr's that are able to correct this. I have an eye Dr I have had for 15 years. Last November he had checked my eyes and I got new contacts. I totally trusted him and he has always helped immensely. The new contacts however have been a problem lately and I have gone through too many of them for comfort. Last Thursday I made an appointment at this clinic to have my contacts checked again, before purchasing more. Much to my surprise a lady walked in and introduced herself. I did the same and during our conversation I asked about my Dr...Apparently he sold the business to this Dr last December and is moving down South for his wife. Nothing was said to his patients and apparently his staff found out 2 days before closing. I found myself praying in the chair for guidance for the new Dr and for patience, understanding, trust and guidance on my part for the new Dr. I kept pumping myself up thinking maybe a new Dr would be ok...Maybe she would have new and different ideas on the whole issue. Well, I have new contacts and they are not working so I will call tomorrow and make an appointment, I did warn her that I have had trouble in the past getting a correct fit/RX, Now I pray for patience for both of us. I do know that it will all work can it not as I have the right God in my corner and hers as well. I also, know he hears us and is ever present wherever we are. He is always guiding us and watching over us. Today I have no pictures just thoughts.

Your next stop is my sweet friend.....Tami, she always has interesting and fun thoughts and ideas.

Thanks for stopping by, please take time to stop by the other carriers of faith as well.
Until next time,
