Dueling Darlings Kit #5
Hi welcome from cold snowy MN...I know I probably shouldn't complain about the snow and cold since I do chose to live here but as I get older I seriously wish I could winter in a warmer place...(maybe one of these years), but since I'm still here and it's still cold, I can't think of a better thing to do than stay inside and craft...woohoo....This month Laura Jean sent us our card kits...the theme being "My Favorite Things". Laura Jean sent many wonderful things and I tried and almost accomplished using all of them...I have some Basic Grey dsp, one sentiment, a couple snowman images and one snowflake left over...(pretty good for me...lol).
This month I chose to do a tent topper card. I colored the cute little Inky Antics snowman with my copic markers, then spread crystal effects all over the little ice tube he is sliding on, I lightly sprinkled glitter over the crystal effects, I also used the crystal effects on the had brim and pom pom and sprinkled white flower soft on those. While he was off in a corner drying I cut cherry cobbler for the base of my card and pieces of DSP from the kit. I tied the white ribbon from the kit around the front of the card and attached the rhinestones...I then cut the ovals from cherry cobbler, wild wasabi and whisper white paper and layered them. I cut out my little snowman and mounted him on the ovals then on the front of the card. On the inside of the card, I used the large felt snowflake LJ sent along and punched the sentiment out with the scallop circle punch mounting it in the center of the snowflake...I like how that turned out...
LJ also sent us a cute little box from OTC. I used some of my left over dsp to cover each of the sides of the box and also the heart on the top. I took some of the ribbon from the kit and made little rosettes, centered the buttons on the rosettes and stuck one on each side of the box....what a fun little bonus project to work on...
Our special assignment this month is to share with you some of our favorite things....One on my most special "favorite things" that comes only during christmas. Growing up the oldest of 6 children left very little "quiet/alone" time. As I grew older I would sneak downstairs after everyone was asleep put Christmas music on the stereo and sit in the darkened room softly lit by the Christmas tree lights and savor the soft Christmas tree playing in the background. To this day I still enjoy the Christmas music playing and the Christmas tree lights but now I enjoy it whenever I am home...I find it so relaxing during this busy time...so much so I truly get sad when we have to take down the tree and put away the music until next year...I have many other favorite things...like my precious little granddaughter (my best friend...lol), my hubby and my girls, my awesome friend,s stamping and card making, and my very special online crafting friends whom I absolutely cherish....but I never ever tire of the Christmas lights and music...

Great way to combine Crystal Effects with the glitter and white flower soft.
Love the use of the DP to make a little scene, and the creative way you mounted the image-as if he's sledding right thru the forest!
Way to go, Carol!
Hugs!
