June Dueling Darlings

Hi all... first of all I must apologize as I haven't been on the computer for most of the month...I have missed stopping by your blogs. Some of you know and some don't but we moved the last week of May/June 1 being our last day at our old place...let me just say....Moving just isn't my cup of tea...blehhhh....in my case..I can't find anything and it will take a good long time to get back to normal (whatever that is...lol). BUT...I did manage to keep track of the awesome kit that our lovely Diva hostess Jamie sent...I don't know how it happened but I'm so glad it did...(I however had to hunt for tape, score board, cutter etc). The lovely hostess for the Dazzlers was April this month...the two cooked up a masculine kit for us to work with...Jamie, I loved the wonderful kit...chock full of fun things to work with. I knew right away I was going to use the night of navy SU paper along with the pretty navy dsp...The brown dsp Jamie sent was a perfect compliment to the navy...The images are from the SU set "The Open Sea" which I think are the most perfect images for a masculine card. As you can see....I didn't do any coloring and cut out the compass and put a star brad in the center and then popped it up with mounting tape. I took the navy ribbon and tied 3 knots in it and mounted it on the side of the card....

The inside looks like this.....

I used the Bo Bunny dsp from the front and the brown paper Jamie sent along as well...I used 3 brads and wrapped the bakers twine around each brad to add a little to the inside (a personal challenge I am working on --the inside of cards).

The sweet man I was privileged to call "DAD" passed away about 5 years ago. He was patient, kind, honest, loving and a really good sport about things. I have many wonderful memories of my dad...The other man in my life I got to call dad was my father-in-law....oh my what a man he was...he passed away in 1989 but I was very lucky to have been able to get to know him and so were my girls...he loved us "girls" as he had 3 boys...and boy oh boy did he spoil all of us...I have many fond memories of him as well...I miss both of my dads....but hold them close to my heart...I truly have been blessed....

Thank you for stopping by...I hope you get a chance to stop by and see all the wonderful creations the Divas and Dazzlers have in store for you...I am sure you will enjoy them...

P.S. Jamie thanks especially for the yummy chocolate inspiration...what a sweet treat...

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

Awesome!

You amaze me! I would still be looking for crafty supplies! And here you are rocking the Duel!!

I must admit that the blue dp reminds me of soft flannel pajama bottoms!! And that in turn reminds me of my dad who ALWAYS wore a red plaid jacket....awwww....how I still miss him! Memories ;-)

Great card and I am soooooo happy to see you back in blog-land!!

Aw, this is amazing in so many ways, mostly that you could find the time to make it amidst your busy-ness - you are amazing! I considered pairing the blue and brown but couldn't make it work in my mind but you sure did! This is a beauty - so many of us missing our dads, but truly they are all waiting on us in a much better place!

Hugs to you my sweet Dueling Darling sistah! x0x0

Wow! You are amazing, my dear friend!! You've created the most amazing beautiful card amidst a time of great upheaval and change in your life. Love how you created the background with the DSP. It really highlight your beautifully layered image. Love how you knotted to denim ribbon and enhanced the compass image with the copper star! The inside is as amazing as the outside. Great use of the twin and brads!! You are an inspiration to us all!!! And I want to wish you....
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND MANY BLESSINGS IN THE COMING YEAR!!!

Yep....love it! I love how you did the front with the different size layers under the main image! Also love the triple tied ribbon!

Great job....and I give you so much credit for having to search for your tools, finding them and putting a great card together!!

Happy Birthday to you....I hope you had a wonderful day!!

Love, love, LOVE this!! Blues & browns are one of my fav color combos and you nailed it on this card!! The inside is soooo pretty also, but still masculine. I especially like the bakers twine wound around the brads - brilliant idea, my dear friend!

Moving is such an awful thing for me, so I completely sympathize! I sure do hope that you find your treasures and get a craft space set up soon for you-your talent is too good to be dormant for very long! Please - you have to share it with us, we need it! LOL
Big Hugs and hope that your birthday was as special as you are!

First, you moved and posted your card before me! I am so bad.

Second, I love that you used the blues and browns together. They look great!

Third, you knotted the ribbon in a unique way that went with the theme so well.

Great post!
WOW! How did you do it... move and create a gorgeous card all at the same time! I am totally in awe of you, my friend!
