DDD December Challenge 2012
Hi all....it is indeed a sad weekend with the school tragedy in Connecticut...my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to all the families whose lives have been forever changed by the events that happened on Friday 12-14-12...
The challenge for this month was hosted by the talented Barb for the Diva's and awesome Michelle for the Darlings....The theme they chose was "Winter Travel"...fun indeed. Barb sent a kit that was full to the brim with paper, embellies and immies...wow...enough for at least 5+ cards...however I did only one...The image is "Downhill Snowman" by Whipper Snapper....(love this company)...The dsp is from Little Yellow Bicycle and there was a HUGE assortment of embellies and ribbons...(THANK YOU Barb!!!). What a fun kit..
Here is my card:
And here is the inside:
As per normal I used glitter in the form of stickles to cover this cute little snowman and the snow and swirls that are part of the image. I kept with the blue and brown color scheme when coloring up my image with copics. The base of my card is "Umber" cardstock which I purchased at Archivers..I used as much as possible of the amazing kit but feel like I didn't use much of it as there was so much to work with...(again, thanks Barb).
As an additional challenge we were to tell about a story related to winter travel or outside fun..Two memories come to mind...The first time I EVER skied was when my now hubby and I were dating...He of course was an accomplished skier and I ...WAS NOT..I wore corduroy pants...(wrong) and when I would ski...I would think I was going too fast so I fell on purpose. After several attempts I could tell I was testing his patience so I decided to go into the lodge and have a hot toddy while he and his buddies went for much more challenging skiing as far away from the bunny hill as possible...anyway, he had my ID with him...oops, I could not get into the bar let alone request a warm cocktail without the proper ID....so I pulled up my big girl panties and skiied the hills to find him...(was I crazy???? Yep), the snow had gotten between the cords in my pants and when it melted in the warm chalet I was freezing...I needed something warm to drink and I was on a mission to get that ID...needless to say, I found him and by the time I got back to the chalet I was frozen...and he and his buddies were about done...I didn't ski again until about 15 years later...this time I didn't wear the corduroy pants (lesson learned)....but boy did he laugh when I got to the bottom of the bunny hill...(I didn't make any advancement there). In my wonderful imagination I was swooping down the hill going back and forth just like I was supposed to...BUT to the observation of all around me...I was on a straight, fast, ski down that hill and had anyone crossed my path ....well, lets just say...they would have been calling 911 for both of us...No more skiing for me...I think I've had enough to last a lifetime...lol
Thank you all for stopping by.....please stop by all the other Darlings posts...I am sure you will not be disappointed with the awesome creations you will find...they are a talented group of friends.
Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

And you gave me the giggle I needed this morning, reading your skiing stories. How funny! THANK YOU!
I'm so glad you Duel with us every month!
Great Story too--I can just imagine all of the components of this and turning out in a marriage!
Thanks for using this fun image in such a cute way AND for being a Great Diva!
this is a beautiful card! I love the banner dies and how they are lined up.....beautiful design!
your skiing story is wonderful. I will never put on skies, but I am in awe of anyone that has the courage to try. :)
Merry Christmas!
LJ
As for your story - well,, let's just say we ARE sisters. Your skiing story is a similar version to the one & only time that I tried skiing. Except that all the family left me in the kiddie class to learn how to ski and they went off to the daredevil slopes LOL. Yeah, I found my way into the lodge pretty quickly.
Hugs and let's find a time to talk soon!
xoxo
I love your card. The banners and snowflakes are so sweet! Great creation. love ya :)
I love how you used the DP's to make the fabby banners. Then the snowflakes from material....genius!
I do love your card, the banners are very cool and I love that they end in snowflakes!

Oh, my, skiing in cords I don't know how you managed to stay outside as long as you did! I can see why you stayed away from the sport! What a funny story although I'm sure it wasnt' very funny at the time. TFS!
I LOVE your story too! I always enjoy a good laugh in the morning & your story was quite pleasing! TFS!!!
I smiled when I read about your attempt of skiing and the bunny hill as it brought back a similar event...for sure we muat have been separated at birth U and I!! lol
