February Dueling Darlings

Well it is the 15th of the month and once again we are dueling...Our amazing hostesses this month were Judy for the Divas and Paola for the Dazzlers...and what darling kits they sent...

Here are the deets:

IT’S ALL ABOUT LOVE!

It’s February and your Dueling Darling hostess’s Paola for the Dazzlers and Judy for the Divas have chosen this theme of love based on the Bible verses from Corinthians 13: 4,7, 13
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud….It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres…And now these three remain:  faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love.” (New International Version)  There is so much about love to celebrate in February besides the forever traditional day of love, Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14th.  To name a few more celebrations that take place this month and that may inspire you as you create your card for this months duel:
·        American Heart Month
·        International Friend Month
·        Random Acts of Kindness Week (10th – 16th in 2013)
·        Brotherhood/Sisterhood Week (17th – 23rd in 2013)
·        Send a Card to a Friend Day (Feb. 7th)
·        Love Your Pet Day (Feb. 21st)
·        Family Day (Feb 18, 2013 in Canada)

With this theme in mind we would like you to sow the seeds of love and kindness you have received in your life.  You are challenged to pay it forward by performing a kind gesture and doing it anonymously!  The week of  the 10th – 16th may be the perfect opportunity for you to do this.

In your kit this month you should have received:
Designer Papers from  My Mind’s Eye, “Love Me”; Pinecone Press Papers, “Be Mine”
Ribbon from Recollections: red glitter; pink glitter; red and white satin;
Divine Twine: pink,white, red twine
Heart clothes pin
Pink bling hearts
Prima flowers
Various heart brads
Stamped images:  Stampin’ Up “Summer by the Sea”  and sentiment “Joy is not in things, it is in us” and  circle sentiment from S.U. Circle of Friendship “Sending You My Love

Well let me tell you...I loved the dsp so much I wanted to use both sides of each sheet...hmmmmm..... what can I do to accomplish that...the light bulb went on and off to work I went...I cut each of the 3 sheets into 1/2" strips and went to work weaving the strips into this wonderful background alternating the fronts and backs so each side would be seen...AWESOME right?? NO...when I put the card together the whole sheet of weaving was crooked and slanting,.....akkkkk....now what. Well I pulled the whole card apart and started again...hmmmm...maybe if I didn't do such a big sheet it would work....Off to find another layout and create....this time it worked (sort of or at least well enough for me to be ok with it). By the time I got the second card done I was so tired from working a 12 hour day I waited to post until this evening...(sorry)..Then once again the light bulb went off....why not cut some hearts out of the woven paper...great idea..the first heart totally fell apart...(the weave wasn't stuck together)..oh well, I did figure that one out in time but oyi....

Anyway, here is my card:

If you look close enough you can see the middle back panel is woven...

Here is the inside:
The next time I decide to try something new...I promise I will start earlier...(sheesh and I thought it was going to be easy....)

Thanks for stopping by, please stop by the other duelers blogs and see their creations...I am sure you won't be disappointed...

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

Oh my goodness my friend...how brilliant you are to weave the DP together! I love how that looks. And you colored the image so beautifully too. The woven hearts on the inside add just the right touch.

Hi Carol! I'm a wee bit late in commenting on the Feb. Diva card. Love how you used the dsp in so many creative ways, especially the "quilted" hearts on the inside!
