COF May 2013

It is once again time for the Crafter's of  Faith challenge. This month our hostess was Jackie and this is what her challenge was for us (I personally LOVE this challenge).

May Theme
Hostess: Jackie
"For God so loved the world; that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

This is my most favorite verse in the Bible. It speaks to me about love...a great love that will never end. How awesome!!! For the month of May; I would like you ladies to create something out of love. Interpret this anyway you want...it can be a fave stamp set; some of your fave embellishments, maybe even a project for a loved one. There's so many possibilities & I can't wait to see what you all come up with
!

Here is my card:

I received a GC from a VERY SPECIAL friend for "A day for Daisies" digi store. I love this place and have purchased there before but this particular image reached down inside me and cried out purchase me...My lovely niece just announced that she and her sweet hubby are expecting their first baby in November. (For those of you who have been following for awhile I helped with her wedding 2 years ago). When I saw the image I just had to make her a congratulations card which by the way fit perfectly with the beautiful verse Jackie chose. It shows that God loves us so much that he still creates new life within us so that the world can continue to go on. Jackie I totally understand your love for this verse ( and I love it as well).

Thank you for stopping by and I do hope you take a few minutes to visit the Crafters of Faith and look at their interpretation of this challenge. I am certain you will not be disappointed.

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

Calendar Girls May 2013

This month our lovely hostess was April and this is the challenge she came up with for us....

MAY 2013 CHALLENGE
Miss May: April

My theme is easy I would like you each to make a card representing one thing you hope to accomplish over the summer. It could be a garden, a vacation, a weight loss, whatever, BUT you do have to tell us what you are hoping to accomplish!

With this in mind I have been really thinking hard about starting to exercise more and try to cut back on eating...(much needed for better health and joints)..Looking through my stamps I found a set I hadn't inked up yet (I have lots of them.....yikes) and it seemed to fit the challenge perfectly using the weight/exercise theme..

Here is my card:

I took my camera and card to work and snapped this picture as my office is so bright and sunny during the day...(don't think I'll do that again as it really doesn't show the colors right..they are much brighter and vibrant in real life.).[ Another lesson learned.] I used a new SU color for mounting the image and the dsp (which is a variegated purple/coral/red, the base is SU concord grape which is very dark. The next picture of the inside does it better justice (but not much)...

The stamp set is Inky Antic Ageless Worldly women...fun set with funny sayings.

Thank you for stopping by, please take a few minutes and check out the other calendar girls creations. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

DDD May 2013-Making Memorie-Celebrating Moments

I think I have a pattern going here...Once again I am late in getting my card posted. Life seems to be taking over in leaps and bounds lately and everything keeps getting pushed back. I don't however want to stop crafting so will continue to post (even though I am late...:( ).. The theme this month for the wonderful Dueling Darlings was chosen by our amazing leaders...for the Diva's the wonderful Kelly and for the Dazzlers the wonderful Jeanette. The theme was Making Memories, Celebrating Moments!!

Kelly sent us the most delicious kit. Our image was  "Tessa Tassel" from Kraftin' Kimmie and sentiments from KK as well. DSP from Carta Bella "beautiful memories" ...and many embellishments to craft with. I loved it all and here is what I came up with.....
I loved the dsp and typically I chose a layout in which I can use as much as possible, however I loved this image and when I started putting the card together felt that less was more and chose to make the card simple. I used basic black for the base of the tag (which originally was going to be a bookmark) has 2 of the dsp one on the front and one on the back which of course you can't see,...I loved the polka dot dsp so I used a strip of that to back the tag and bring this sweet image to the focal point. I did however used more of the dsp on the inside of this card and used the cute little motar board to accent the sentiment.

We also, were supposed to share a memory or current moment that is happening in our lives that means alot to us. I have had several in the past year and and pinning a awesome memory down to just one would be too hard, so will share with you that my sweet little "god daughter" will be graduating in one short week. I will be going up north to help my sister with the celebrations. I am looking forward to this in a big way...family, friends and awesome food...what a great way to celebrate a milestone for a wonderful young lady....♥

I do hope you like my creation and hope you'll visit the darlings and divas if you haven't already done so. I am sure you won't be disapoointed.

Thanks for stopping by...
Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

Calendar Girls and Crafters of Faith cards

Hi all, I am once again late...not on purpose but truly by crazy circumstances. I have been working longer hours, visiting awesome friends and my computer has been acting up. During the time the Calendar Girls card was due I was at Barb's beautiful home. I did not have my card done and Barb let me use her wonderful craft room to make my card. Since it was my month to chose the theme, I was doubly upset that I wasn't on to post. When I arrived home I went to post my card and my computer was not working again...Needless to say I was NOT a happy camper...so here I am today to finally post my cards...

Here is the challenge:
APRIL 2013 CHALLENGE
Miss April: Carol

As the saying goes April showers bring May flowers....

To me April showers clean the earth of its worn out snow, dust and dirt along with nurturing new seeds and life to our surroundings (gardens, yards, trees, etc). It also, to me signals new beginnings....so for this month I would like for you to create a card that does just that...it could be a wedding card, a baby card, even a New Years card...OR it could be a card that uses something worn out or pre-used and develop a new use for it...ex: mesh bag from fruit...used once to hold fruit: new beginning...used on the card...repurposed.. I know all of you are very talented crafters and I can hardly wait to see what you come up with...

Have fun with this challenge...
((hugs)) Carol

My original intentions were to make a wedding card and use some of the wrapping paper that I salvaged from the trash when my dd was opening her wedding gifts...since I was at Barb's I change to a baby card using a new whipper snapper stamp I purchased while I was visiting... here is my card...

I used a doily for the background of this sweet little guy and some embossed whale paper for the panels. My niece had a little boy on the 23rd of April so this little card will be going her way...

For the crafters of faith....this was the challenge put out by our lovely April:

April's Challenge
I spent my childhood being called April Showers or even April Flowers.....hence my email address of aflowers.... It would probably be called bullying nowadays, but I seemed to take it all in stride. Because of this moniker, I wanted to highlight a verse which is about Spring. I think this one is apropos!

Leviticus 26:4 - Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Although my verse does not say flowers explicitly, a plant must flowers before it bears fruit. I would love your card this month to show off flower --- stamps, die cuts, crocheted, etc! {If you want, you can add rain, but that isn't a necessity.}

Have fun with this verse and the glorious Spring Season!

I also did this card at Barb's with a new (to me) technique... I embossed a solid flower stamp with while and then colored it with copics. Of course I HAD to add some glitter...(but then you all knew that right??...lol)

Here is my card:

I actually kind of like the look of the solid white flower highlighted by copics and glitter. I am practicing so that I can do a better job...

Please stop by the blogs for each of these groups...I am certain you will not be disappointed by all the creativity you will find

Until next time.

Hugs,

Carol
