Calendar Girls 2014

Once again it is time for our wonderful group of swappers to post the Calendar Girl Challenge. To start us off this year our awesome hostess is Jeanette (I do apologize for posting late). Here is what she said:

January
Hostess: Jeanette

If you’ve ever been any of the swap threads that I participate in, you know that I like holidays, normal ones, weird one, funny ones. EVERY day is worth a celebration. So, for this month’s Calendar Girl challenge, I want you to select a holiday that is CLOSE TO your own birthday and make a card for that holiday. If you need help finding holidays, check out this wonderful site. .

For instance, Barb’s birthday is in October, right? So she could choose to make a Halloween card, since Halloween is close to her birthday. Or… she could choose a lesser known (dare we say quirky) holiday such as National Family Bowling Day (the 11th), National Grouch Day (the 15th) or Dictionary Day (the 16th). Now please don’t feel like you HAVE to make a card that is for that holiday… just one that is inspired by that holiday. For instance, Barb’s Grouch Day could be a “Cheer Up/I Care” sort of card or an “I’m sorry! I really messed up” sort of card. Or the Dictionary Day card could include a flower punched out of the page of an old dictionary.

I hope you’ll have fun with this challenge. I’ll look forward to seeing what you come up with when we post on our blogs on January 28th!

Thank you Jeanette for the awesome challenge. I love this site and had some fun checking it out. My birthday is June 15th and rather than go with flag day I chose June 12th red rose day.. I had purchased a rose stamp last year that I hadn't had time to ink up so I used it with this card. I made two as I had taken pictures of the first one...thinking I only had one shot if it I made another to replace it. When taking pics of the new card I discovered I had 2 more pics of the first card so I could show you...uggghh....the new cards pic isn't really great either. I think I need a photo class....

Here is my first card...simple but I kind of liked it...

Here is the second....

The picture isn't the greatest but this is an easel card and the white on the roses is glitter that didn't photo very well..

I again apologize to my fellow calendar girls and Jeanette for being so late..

Thank you for stopping by.....please take some time and check out the creations made by the other gals...I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Until next time,

Hugs,

Carol
