Calendar Girls Febraury 2012

Well here we are once again...It is Calendar Girl Challenge time and Miss February aka Kelly was our wonderful hostess...Here is her challenge:

Our February Theme

** Show us how FURRY you are! **

Hee hee! It’s February, a month that symbolizes
LOVE. When thinking of a theme for this month’s
Challenge, I knew I wanted us to get happy with
the furry ones! My challenge for you this month is: Show some
LOVE to our furry animals! I love them great and small,
Short and tall – furry and fluffy! I am also
sure at one point we have all had a special pet that we have loved,
or maybe still do have a pet (or a bunch!) So let’s show them
some love! I challenge you to show us fur, your fluff, your waggin’ tails! The possibilities are endless – from doggies to cats, mice to turtles – in one case, a spider! (lil dj!!) LOL! Let’s bring some creativity to making a card (etc) with any image showing us a pet (including if you don’t actually own one!)

** For an extra part of the challenge, since it is February, please try to include the color RED on your card somewhere (coloring of the image, your DSP, cardstock, embellies – just a touch (or a lot!) of red.

Please post your cards to your blogs on February 28th ! I hope you LOVE
this challenge this month and LOVE creating with FUR and FLUFF!

Kelly (Miss February)

For my card this month I chose the Whipper Snapper Image Sheepdog and Hydrant. I think this image is stinkin' cute so just had to use it. I do have a little dog but I don't have any stamps currently that would be like her so I thought I go the totally opposite way..."big dog"...lol

I used umber paper for the base of my card and mounted SU cherry cobbler on that. I then used a piece of double sided dsp I found in my stash of leftovers so I don't know who makes it (sorry), but I do think it is adorable. I put the hydrants facing up for the background and then turned the paper over to make the mounted paper square behind the image. I don't know if you can see it, but I used crystal effects on the hearts, nose and little rectangles in the hydrant...I used blue stickles for the collar and put tiny rhinestones over the stickles. I also used a silver pen on the bolts of the hydrant.
As I am trying to do as of late, I also did the inside of this card. I'm working on getting better at this so please bear with me...
I kept the inside very basic using the same paper as I used from the front. The saying I have seen this with is "sometimes your the dog, sometimes the hydrant", but I don't have the stamp...I left it blank for now and will add a sentiment when I decide who I am going to send it to...

I hope you liked my card. Please stop by the other Calendar Girls blogs and see what they have created for your view pleasure...I am sure you won't be disappointed...

Thanks for stopping by...

Until next time,
Hugs,
Carol

Oh my goodness, Carol. Look at you! That card is adorable!!! And did you notice? You and Barb used the same image!?!?! How funny is that? BTW, I love how you left the dog mostly white! Makes the red hydrant pop!
